SPECIALTIES

Marathon and ultra distance running for athletes who hope to set a time and/or distance PR.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe the coach serves the athlete, not the other way around. No matter the level of performance desired, the athlete deserves to be seen and heard in a way that informs every decision made, and training session programmed.

No athlete should follow a ‘copy and pasted’ training program, because no athlete has the same needs as another. Each person adapts at the same rate and faces day-to-day demands and stressors that are unique to them – meaning their approach must be unique, as well!

I believe in flexible principles, meaning there are certain aspects of a training program that must be present and well executed, in order to promote adaptation and growth. However, these principles must be integrated into the athletes training in a way that best fits their performance abilities and lifestyle.

Consider your potential… Now multiply it many times over with the guidance of a coach who will do anything to help you discover your true capabilities. Sometimes, all we need is someone in our corner to specially design our plan for success and achievement.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently have 5 years of coaching experience, ranging from online run coaching, to high school track and field, and youth swim. My diverse range of experiences have allowed me to appreciate the commonalities of great coaching. Namely, individualization and personalization, flexibility, and a well-rounded understanding of the growth equation, which effectively balances stress and rest, to promote growth over time.

ABOUT ME

Perhaps most notably, I’m a cat guy, and proud father of my cat, Major! Outside of running, I love reading, writing for my personal blog, and developing myself, personally and professionally. I’m also a huge sports fan, and love all of the Philadelphia sports teams!

Also, I am the host of two podcasts: The Steadfast Collective, of my own creation, and the Elevate Your Running podcast, which I co-host to share valuable running information, to help you discover your strongest self.

I love connecting with others, which is why I am a coach. I truly want to support each athlete, and hope to establish a meaningful connection that spans well beyond miles ran and PR’s achieved.

BIG INFLUENCES

My education through the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) was a meaningful introduction to the principles of quality coaching and programming. Since attaining my certification, I’ve continued to educate myself on different aspects of the sport, to be applied as both an athlete and coach.

I believe in providing athletes with context around their training, and often link resources, as well as provide detailed workout descriptions to help inform and provide additional value for each client.

RACING HISTORY

I’ve been road running for 8 years, beginning with half-marathons in college, and training for progressively faster marathon times in recent years. Last year, I shifted focus to ultramarathons, where I’ve found a new passion, and appreciation for the physical training and mental toughness required to complete these extended endurance events.

My longest race to date has been 100 miles, and my personal focus moving forward will be to PR the marathon and ultramarathon in the same calendar year! I believe that by continuing to train hard and put my philosophies into practice, I am a better, more relatable coach for my athletes.

Austin has coached me through multiple half marathons, 5ks, as well as 1 mile time trials, and is currently coaching me for a series of races this spring and a marathon this fall!

He is an excellent coach that accommodates my busy nursing schedule as well as my on call shifts. He also knows how to push me to be a better athlete with encouragement and challenging workouts!

I’d recommend him to anyone willing to work towards their goals and have fun along the way!

Austin is a fantastic person, coach, and just an all around guy. I had a small running base when I met Austin and he pushed me to the limits in training. We set out to run a sub 4 and we accomplished that goal with ease. His training was spot on. He’s very knowledgeable about running and he communicates well. Sometimes life got in the way and I had to adjust on the fly, Austin never pressured me to do something. I believe Austin has become a friend of mine during this block and I am looking forward to more training sessions with him in the near future. Also, check out his podcast “the steadfast collective” on Spotify. Again, this guy is one of the best out there and I highly recommend working with him.
