Current goals:  To successfully finish GR 50k before the time cut off!

Long-term, big shot goals that you someday hope to achieve with running: I have always hoped to do a 100 miler, I’m dabbling in making 2017 my year!  I have spent a lot of time pouring over races that could potentially be “the one.”  More solid training, staying injury free, and the right timing will be the necessary recipe to get me there!  For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to tackle this.  I have no idea how that seed got planted, (cough, matt, cough) but it’s there and growing!

Tell us about your running accomplishment that you’re most proud of and why:

Well, I’ve certainly never won any races, and never will.  So, for me I’d have to say this past year and a half of consistent training.  To be able to see and feel differences in what I can do with my running now is pretty cool.  I have a busy work life, home life, social life, and carving the time to fit in this kind of training is hard, and so I feel proud that I think I’ve done a pretty good job of it!  Hopefully, this spot can be updated when I complete my 50k!  For now, training it is 🙂

Favorite part about being a runner: The money I save on not being able to get pedicures anymore because I couldn’t pay anyone enough to deal with these feet.

Favorite Workout: 4-5 hours of 100 mile effort on the trail. I love this stress-free long workout, checking out of reality for a while, and just hunkering down and working hard.  A combo of easy running and hiking – ahhhhhh…… good!

Most Challenging Workout: Intervals.  Barf.  But, maybe tempo?  Hill repeats?  Wait a minute….do I even like working out?  Ok, intervals are the most challenging.  Final answer.

Best races: San Francisco Marathon.  I don’t remember my time because it was nothing spectacular, but it was my first marathon ever and I finished. Running across the golden gate bridge was magical, as well as the feeling at the end accomplishing something I never thought I could, having started that training unable to run a mile without stopping.  (I was a swimmer, a definite fish out of water!)

Running words of wisdom: When all else fails, at least have an outfit on that is color coordinated.   A year and a half later, I still stand by these words of wisdom!
