SPECIALTIES

  • Coaching athletes of all ages looking to take their running to the next level – whether that be taking time off a current marathon PR or moving up into ultra-distance races. I’ve done this myself, having run the marathon and then moved up in distance to the 50k and recently the 100 mile.
  • Guidance with scheduling for runners with full time jobs and families
  • Help with nutrition, shoe selection and accessories as it pertains to specific races
  • Adding in strength training to a running plan

PHILOSOPHY

Coaching is a two way street – both coach and athlete need to be completely transparent and honest with each other. I believe that one of the key components to improving as a runner is providing detailed feedback. Because of this, training plans are not going to be set in stone and will adjust as needed based on how the athlete is feeling, if they are traveling, etc.
In addition to having consistent communication, I will be your biggest cheerleader to help you achieve your goals.

If you are interested, my plans will come with core and strength routines and I can provide advice on gear, nutrition and hydration planning, event pacing, etc.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a UESCA certified coach with a lot of coaching experience – from athletes with years of experience to those just getting started.

ABOUT ME

I am a husband and father of 3 kids and 2 dogs. We live in Andover, Massachusetts, in New England and try to take advantage of every season and what it offers – I love being outside year round. Skiing (up and downhill), biking (road, gravel and mountain), hiking and, of course, running are all huge parts of my life. I try to do as many of these activities with my family as possible and am slowly in the process of getting my littles ones on skis, bikes, or out on the trails for a run.

I am supported not only by my awesome family but by these amazing brands – UltrAspire and NeverSecond

BIG INFLUENCES

Some of my big influences are Jason Koop, Francois D’haene, Courtney Dauwalter, Zach Bitter, Killian Jornet, Jeff Browning and David Roche.

RACING HISTORY

Lots of races and adventure runs over the years ranging from local Turkey Trots to all day mountain adventures. Some highlights include:

  • Midstate Massive 100 mile
  • Multiple 50Ks including UROC and local races by TARC
  • Wapack and Back 50 mile
  • Stonecat trail marathon
  • Multiple years of the Baystate Marathon as well as the New Hampshire Marathon

Cody really helped me improve my running with his just right scheduled workouts, positive and quick feedback, flexibility, and personal schedule adjustments leading up to trail and road target races ranging from 5Ks through 50Ks. As evidence of our success together, I am a member of the local running club with 900 runners, and in my first year with Coach Cody I was selected the ‘Most Improved Club Runner’ across all age groups, couldn’t have done this without Coach Cody!

After running my first ultra a few months ago I was hooked. I’m so happy to have Cody as a coach to help me progress to longer distances. He has been great with making my schedule around my work . He is helping me train for a 100 miler and his experience on training, nutrition and recovery has been so helpful . Always a text or call away and always positive and encouraging. I’m excited for him to help me in this journey !

After I ran the Boston Marathon in 2022, I was disappointed with my time and wanted to do more. I train on a marathon team, but the coach has many different runners on their caseload and I was looking for more personalized attention. I started with Cody in May 2022 with a training plan for the New York City Marathon in November of 2022. I absolutely LOVED having Cody as a coach. He made me a great plan that I could easily follow and he was always quick to edit it for injuries, sickness, or anything else that comes up in life. He always got back to me right away when I had questions and he commented and gave me feedback on all of my workouts. I’m currently training for the 2023 Boston Marathon and I am having the most successful training season I have ever had and I really credit Cody for starting me out on this great path!

I’m so fortunate to have Cody as a coach as I get myself in shape mentally and physically for some big adventures later this year. His training plans have been excellent, and there’s a real long-term vision to them that I believe will help me achieve my goals. I can certainly feel the difference in my legs! His experience as an ultra runner shows, and I’m grateful to be able to leverage it. Communication-wise, he’s fast to respond with comments to workouts, and is very engaged and flexible with the random things that come up in life.
