SPECIALTIES

  • I love working with athletes at all levels! Whether you’re returning to running, need a walk/run plan, all the way to 5k through Marathon distances.
  • My favorite distances are the 5k and Half Marathon, since these are the ones I race most frequently, so I’m a little biased 🙂
  • I also offer a Strength Training program that builds concurrently with your training program, to prevent injury and improve overall running efficiency.

PHILOSOPHY

  • The number one goal in running is to have fun. Running should not feel like a chore, a job, an obligation, or a check list. My goal is to work with you to accomplish this goal as well as all other performance specific goals. There are ways to incorporate unique work outs as well as cross training to keep it enjoyable!
  • Generally, my plans follow a typical Base, Build, Peak, Taper, Race timeline. Everything within that (timing, work outs, sessions, strength, cross training, frequency) is completely customized to you. I also am not a drill sergeant, I want to incorporate specific work outs you like, and modify the plan so that it works for you. Things are always going to come up, I’m here to help you stay consistent, not strive for a perfect computer generated training plan! That’s the beauty of having a coach — the plan is molded to your needs and your schedule, not the other way around.
  • I am here for you as much or as little as you need me to be. I gauge each athletes preferences and will communicate more or less frequently depending on what motivates you specifically. Some people want constant encouragement and other people just want a weekly phone call. Either way, I got you!

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I have experience coaching individuals at all levels. I have coached younger runners with Girls on the Run, which is a running focused program aimed at empowering young girls, as well as beginner runners, and more experienced runners trying to take a few minutes off their PR.

ABOUT ME

I am a wife and mom to two little girls. I have been running really my whole life, but it has looked different through every season. When I’m not running, I love to cook, bake, and hang out with my family (aka drive my kids to all their activities, let’s be honest!).

BIG INFLUENCES

  • Shalane Flanagan
  • Phily Bowden
  • Molly Siedel
  • Becs Gentry

RACING HISTORY

Running for me is remembering the annual 5K races I did with my family every Thanksgiving as a kid, or the first Half Marathon I did when I was 15 with my sister, or the third Half Marathon I did with my other sister. It’s less about the times on the clock, and more about the experiences and memories with people I love.

    Kara Barbaria

Emily is my first experience with a running coach, and she is amazing. I wanted help with pacing, which she has done above and beyond what I imagined. I have had a lot of fun, and hard work, with my training plan so far. She’s supportive, encouraging and so helpful!
