PHILOSOPHY
First and foremost, running is to remain FUN!
I have had the pleasure of being coached under many different persons and philosophies in my running career. Ultimately, I believe the best training program is the one that makes you excited to get out the door every day. Staying happy, healthy and motivated is the key to longevity in the sport. I love running of all shapes, sizes and terrains. Fast road racing and technical ultra-trail racing are not mutually exclusive events. I do not believe running an ultra means nothing but day-in-day-out grueling long runs, nor do I believe popping off a fast 10k cannot be achieved primarily training on trails. Fitness is fitness, no matter how you try to package it.
I believe the fueling and hydration strategies of the ultra-running world (carbs are king!) are advantageous through all wakes of running. It has taken many, many years to learn how to fuel properly, but I believe proper nutrition is one of the biggest contributors to my personal racing success. I’ve witnessed countless runners struggle through injury and low energy availability, and it breaks m heart to see people lose their running passion as a result. If you are going to train hard, you have to EAT hard.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
I have 15+ years of running experience, including road and trail distances from 5k to 100k. I am knowledgeable in preparing and fueling for extreme endurance events. I also coach youth Track & Field in my hometown of Reno, Nevada. I love to help others realize and achieve their racing potential!
ABOUT ME
I have traveled and lived in many different states throughout the western U.S. as a Wildlife Technician. I love running primarily as a means to explore and spend time in nature.
I first began running as a means to lose weight. I lost over 50 lbs when I was only 11 years-old. It is now my greatest passion and life-long obsession!
BIG INFLUENCES
I would not be the runner I am today without an unruly group of running friends from Reno, Nevada, who never fail to coerce me into grand adventures, and made me fall in love with running as a lifelong sport. I owe everything to my partner, Nate, who taught me the joys of ultra running, Chipotle, and prolonged hot-tub sits.
