SPECIALTIES
- 5k,10k, Half-marathon and marathon training, and anything longer. Beginner and intermediate, injury-prevention and recovery focused.
- Strength training: helping you get comfortable in the gym and around a barbell! Lifting is a great way to build up those big muscle groups, and I’ll help you find the routine that’s best for your body and your time.
PHILOSOPHY
I’m sure you’ve heard it before: running is a mental sport. We all have anxiety around our PRs and finish lines, not to mention all the other anxieties that pop up in our personal lives. To combat these struggles, I incorporate mental health training into your everyday training, covering topics like personal accountability, confidence, and resilience. It’s important to understand what holds you back, so you can learn to set that stuff down. It weighs you down more than you realize.
My running philosophy: brick by brick. I create training blocks that implement a “down week” every 3 weeks. This gives your body time to recover, and improves the quality of your runs during the next training block. This way, you get a taste of success after every down week and see greater improvement over time.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
Since becoming a certified coach in July of 2023, I’ve coached two athletes in their first half marathon, both of whom made it through their training injury-free and achieved their time goals.
ABOUT ME
My home is in Boone, NC, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Running around here comes with about 600 ft of overall elevation, so my quads are my pride and joy. I have a wonderful fiancée, a German Shepherd, and 4 cats, and I love spending time with them dearly. I am a writer and an editor on the side, and I’m currently working on a book about holistically managing pet’s anxiety.
BIG INFLUENCES
Courtney Dauwalter, Camille Heron, Molly Seidel, and Nick Bare
RACING HISTORY
Recovered high school athlete who has learned the importance of rest and recovery. As each HS season passed, the stress in my personal life grew, my burnout intensified, and my times plummeted. After taking the time to focus on my mental health, I turned to longer distances like the marathon that required a more strategic approach with recovery at the center. I’m now chasing a marathon goal of sub 3:30 and hope to become a pacer in the future.
