PHILOSOPHY
My coaching philosophy (like many others) is, anyone can be a runner regardless of experience. I understand that each runner is unique and has strengths and weaknesses, whether those are physical, or mental. That said, I like to get to know the person first, before I get to know “the runner”. I want to understand your intrinsic motivations, why you enjoy running, or want to run, or love competing – so the mentality of the runners is important to me.
I also ask for patience, and for runners to focus on the process, and not just the outcome. It’s all about the process, and the process takes time. I’m supportive, motivating, and hold my athletes accountable. My athletes are ones who want to learn, develop and be coached. They understand that this is ultimately for their benefit, and I’m here to guide them.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
I have 3 years of coaching experience at the high school level (cross-country, track) and volunteer coach a youth track program that runs in the winter and spring for ages 6-14.
ABOUT ME
- I’ve been running for over 27 years, with about 12 of those years competitively (high school, college, post-collegiately).
- I’m a member of the Tri-Valley Front Runners Track Club
- I’m a Road Runner’s Club of America Certified Level 1 coach.
- I’ve competed in distances from 800 meters to half-marathons (and do plan to finally run a marathon in 2024), and I still race and train throughout the year.
