PHILOSOPHY

When it comes to running, I believe most people underestimate their potential. My goal as a coach is to provide you with the tools that you need to tap into that potential and become the best runner you can be! Training for a race can feel very overwhelming, especially if you are new to the sport or trying out a longer distance for the first time. As a coach, I take all the guesswork out of training so that you can focus on enjoying the process. I get to know you on a personal level so I can build a flexible plan based on your goals, priorities, and lifestyle. All training plans can be modified day by day and are intended to fit into your life. It is SO important to maintain a healthy balance so that running is fun and sustainable. My priority is to help you reach the start line feeling confident and prepared!

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an RRCA certified coach since 2021. I have coached runners for race distances ranging from 5k to the marathon, and I was the head coach of a school running program for kids ages 8-12.

ABOUT ME

My running journey began in high school where I ran cross country and track. I continued running in college at a small Division 3 school in Maine. Since then, I have completed many road races, from 5k to full marathons. I am always looking to recruit other people to join me and try out new distances!

I work full time as an occupational therapist. I love to read, knit, cross country ski, and hang out with my dog.

BIG INFLUENCES

I had a coach in college that showed me how a science-based, personalized training program can have a huge payoff. He saw the potential in me before I recognized it in myself, and he pushed me to be more focused and disciplined.

RACING HISTORY

My most memorable race was junior year of college. It was the conference championship race in late October. There was snow on the ground from the night before and it was absolutely freezing, with slippery mud and puddles that were shin deep. Despite the terrible weather conditions and the challenging, hilly course, I finished in first place! The feeling of accomplishment I had on that day is one that I will never forget, and it’s one of the reasons I continue to run to this day.

    Danielle

Salena has been a great help in getting me back into running and mapping out a plan at a pace that works for me. I was a little hesitant to work with a running coach because I haven’t been running regularly for years so I was starting over. However, Salena was just the encouragement I needed to gradually create new running habits to reach my goals! Having someone else make the plan for my runs has saved me lots of time and mental energy. I’m so glad I’ve been able to work with Salena. My 5K is still a few weeks away, but I already know I’m far more prepared than I would be had I relied solely on myself to create a training routine.
