PHILOSOPHY
I believe that running is a sport for everyone, and the hardest part may be knowing where to start. My goal as a coach is to help individuals start on their running journey. To help non-runners, become runners, and to help new runners become stronger runners. Pursuing any running goal can be intimidating, but with my help I will ensure your goals, safety and most importantly, your happiness are at the core of every coaching decision. I look forward to helping you develop into the runner you desire to be!
COACHING EXPERIENCE
Although I am newer to coaching clients, I have experience in coaching school aged athletes (track/volleyball/basketball). My experiences are not limited to coaching teams but also include my time as a Phys. Ed. teacher. When coaching I often tap in to the skills I obtained from teaching to creates meaningful learning experiences and effectively communicate with the athletes.
ABOUT ME
I am a Dutch-Canadian, born in the Netherlands and raised in Canada. I credit my strong work ethic and determination to my rural roots and my upbringing on the farm. Through out my childhood I was involved in many sports, basketball, volleyball, soccer and running just to name a few. My love for competing never left me as I grew up. I continued on with running and slowly began signing up for various races. Following high school I obtained a degree in Education, and have spent the last 5 years teaching and coaching at the junior high and high school level. I now reside in rural Alberta about 15 minutes from where I grew up, on any given day I can be found running the gravel roads to moms house for coffee and cake!

RACING HISTORY
I began racing in junior high and high school. I ran on the school track and cross country team and competed at the provincial level. My love for racing has only multiplied since then. I have raced many distances, these distances include 10k,15k, half marathon and full marathon. My most memorable race was the Banff Marathon, running my first marathon through Canada’s most picturesque park after a hot summer of training was real treat.

Sanne has been my coach for the past four months, and I’ve been more than impressed. My goal was to establish a solid base, so she’s taken me from walk/run to running 10 miles in a workout. Sanne has taken the thought process out for me and programs great workouts that deliver results. If you’re looking for a great coach, then look no further. I highly recommend her!
