SPECIALTIES

I specialize in coaching beginners reach their desired goal in the 5K, 10K, Half and Full marathon. I also have extensive experience in forming cross training workouts and return to running protocol post injuries such as stress reaction, stress fracture, shin splints, etc.

PHILOSOPHY

Some of the key components that shape my coaching decisions are your goals, what level you are at, and how running fits into your daily life. I believe that each plan should be customized to the runner’s specific needs. Regardless of who you are, I will make coaching decisions that push you to work hard while making sure that you are enjoying the process.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I started my coaching career in 2018 at a summer running camp for kids aged 10-18 in Birmingham, AL. There, I was in charge of writing the training program and the fun activities for the day. Following that, I have coached a few of my close friends and helped them reach their desired goals.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Amman, Jordan. In the 90s, my parents fled the war in Darfur, Sudan, and found refuge in Jordan before relocating to the United States in 2014. Richmond, VA became my new hometown; that’s where I learned how to speak English (I am fluent in Arabic) and learned about the American culture and way of living.

Things I like:

  • I listen to music A LOT, I could name you at least one artist or band from any genre of music.
  • I collect vinyl; I keep a list on my phone.
  • I enjoy cooking, and my favorite type of food is Mediterranean cuisine.
  • I am what you might call “A Petrolhead” I enjoy learning about the automotive industry and watching Formula 1.

BIG INFLUENCES

My current and past teammates who always made sure that we enjoyed running no matter how hard the workouts could be.

All of my coaches who I have been lucky to work with, they encouraged me to become the best version of myself year after year on and off the track.

RACING HISTORY

I have raced every event from 400m to 10k and learned many suitable lessons throughout the years. One of the most important is planning a strategy before every race. For example, you do not want to go too fast and hit a wall, nor do you want to go out slow and then realize that you have too much left in the tank at the end of the race. I’ve had experience doing both and that contributes to the knowledge I have as a coach.
