Runner: Dan S
Years Running: Three
Upcoming races: North Face Endurance Challenge 50 (Marin)
Current goals: A sub 12 finish in Marin, a respectable finish at Boston in 2017, and a 100 mile finish.
Long-term, big shot goals that you someday hope to achieve with running: My current goals pretty much classify as my long-term big shot goals for now.
Tell us about your running accomplishment that you’re most proud of and why: I ran a 3:04:14 marathon during the summer of 2016, which is faster than I would have imagined I could have run a marathon. Even a 3:08 had seemed like a stretch goal to me for a couple of years – surprised myself.
Favorite part about being a runner: This is a tough one to put in words and have it come out sounding right… it may be some mix of the sense of accomplishment, the feeling of freedom, and the “brotherhood” of distance runners.
Favorite Workout: Long runs or easy runs. No big focus on pace or some specific work program – just me and the run.
Most Challenging Workout: Intervals or hill repeats. Really don’t like them.
Best races: Lake Sammamish Half (March 2016) and Super Tunnel Full (August 2016)
Running words of wisdom: No real words of wisdom from me. I’ve got a lot more learning to do before I’ve earned the right to share anything that could classify as “wisdom” with this group.
Social media links: I’m a pretty passive user of my social media accounts. If you waited for me to post something, you’d be waiting a long time…
