Runner: Jeff K
Years Running: 9
Upcoming races: Chuckanut 50K, ragnar luckenbach, Canyons 100K, White River. Cougar Trail run series. Likely other local road and trail races in 2017
Current goals: Would like to be able to run a marathon faster than I did in 2011. I am also hopeful to set PRs at Chuckanut and White River.
Long-term, big shot goals that you someday hope to achieve with running: I’d like to maintain consistent with running and retain the competitive spirit. I hope it helps me to stay healthy and live a long life.
Tell us about your running accomplishment that you’re most proud of and why: There are a couple at both ends of the distance spectrum: I ran a 17:01 5K when I was 41 and I thought I really pushed myself hard in that race. The Miwok 100K was memorable, not because I had a fantastic time, but I was able to pass many runners in the final 15 miles so I thought I really managed that race well, and was able to overcome fatigue in the end.
Favorite part about being a runner: Pushing the limit of what my body can do and I find a personal connection with doing that. I also enjoy the competitiveness and camaraderie that goes along with road and trail racing.
Best races: Mercer Island ½ Marathon 2011, Portland Marathon 2011, White River 2014, Baker Lake 50K 2016.
Running words of wisdom: Run your own race, stick to your plan, and forget about what everyone else is doing.
