Nine Trails 35 Mile Endurance Run

Current Goals

Complete longer and longer distances (70 miles is the next goal!) in a race.
Use racing as a means for traveling and seeing the country, and eventually the world (see long term goals)!
Hone in my fitness discipline by incorporating mindful and holistic practices (cross fitness, yoga, meditation, nutrition).
Be active in the local running communities (volunteering at races, trail work, group runs, speakers and presenters).
Perpetuate the benefits of running (especially trail running) through my own writing.
Train to race competitively and increase my performance level.

Favorite Part About Being a Runner

Running slows me down and allows me to see much of our world at a human speed. I feel like it is a medium of experience in which I can connect to my deep, ancestral past (think the early humans who used nothing but their own biological locomotion to traverse the entire earth), which grounding in a modern outlet of sport and competition.

Best Races

I think to this date my best race is still the Hilo to Volcano 50k (2017). I ran a 3:52 with 4,000′ of steady climbing for the win. A close second is the White River 50 Mile Endurance Run. This was my first 50 mile race, and although I didn’t get my A goal of sub 8hrs, I had a great time and finished feeling really strong, clocking in at 8:23. 15th OA, 3rd AG.
