Favorite Part About Being a Runner
Running slows me down and allows me to see much of our world at a human speed. I feel like it is a medium of experience in which I can connect to my deep, ancestral past (think the early humans who used nothing but their own biological locomotion to traverse the entire earth), which grounding in a modern outlet of sport and competition.
I think to this date my best race is still the Hilo to Volcano 50k (2017). I ran a 3:52 with 4,000′ of steady climbing for the win. A close second is the White River 50 Mile Endurance Run. This was my first 50 mile race, and although I didn’t get my A goal of sub 8hrs, I had a great time and finished feeling really strong, clocking in at 8:23. 15th OA, 3rd AG.
