Runner: Mimi P
Years Running: 9
My current goal are to up my fitness level and improve my running efficiency for Double Dipsea. I’ve done it 3 times previously, so I know what I’m in for, and it humbles me every time!
Long Term Goals
I want to stay as fit as I can for as long as I can to be able to enjoy the outdoors during retirement. Hopefully that means running to help me stay as healthy and injury free as possible.
Completing the Double Dipsea three times (fourth coming up)! OK, technically the second year I didn’t “finish”, turning around just shy of the mid point knowing I had to make it back to the start. I had broken my toe about 6 weeks earlier and I think broke it again on the way down tripping on a root and landing wrong. I have to say I felt kind of badass!
Favorite Part About Being a Runner
I love the way it makes me feel. How it relieves stress, what it does for my health, and the relationships I’ve formed because of it.
I’m not a “good” runner, so my best races are the ones where I had the best experiences. Eugene Half Marathon – I got to enjoy that experience with my son. Portland Half – that was the time I met my boyfriend’s (now husband) family for the first time. Moab Trail Half Marathon – Crazy hard race for me, but WOW, the scenery!!! Double Dipsea #3 – I did well in the race, AND my husband proposed to me on Stinson Beach after the race!
Running Words of Wisdom
Be a good training partner. Show up when you say you will. Do your best – whatever that means for you on that day.
