Long Term Goals
There are quite a few FKTs in New England without female times, so it’s one goal I have to tackle those. My life goal is to get out on all the long trails and complete them with minimal support.
In 2017 I finished 4th at the RRCA 50 Mile Championships at Lookout Mountain. I worked really hard for that finish, and it’s one of the most fun races I’ve ever run. In 2019 I returned from a femur fracture in 2018 and tried to finish the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning. I was pulled from the Leadville 100 at mile 86, so ultimately I was unsuccessful, but I finished Old Dominion, Vermont, and Wasatch.
Favorite Part About Being a Runner
When I am mountain/trail running, I feel like a tiny part of something so much bigger than me and connected to all of it at the same time. I love pushing myself out there, and how running allows me to challenge myself to be better every day (and not just in running).
Wapack and Back 50-Miler is a BEAST – it’s probably the best example of an East Coast Beast Coast trail race.
Vermont 100 – I believe this is the last race that still runs horses and people together. It’s a beautiful experience to move along with the horses and riders.
Wasatch 100 – a true mountain/trail race, you are OUT THERE and the views are incredible. This race is tough – lots of vert, lots of technical trail running, rocks, mud, and time alone. Can’t wait to go back again!
Running Words of Wisdom
I think the most valuable thing I’ve learned in running is to get outside my comfort zone and to believe in impossible things. There’s a great quote from Alice in Wonderland, “…sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” Dream big! You’re so much stronger than you know.
