Specialties

My personal passion is Trail, Ultra running, and Marathons, but I am equally strong in shorter distances and road running

I enjoy showing beginners how to evolve in running and conquer new distances, as well as veteran runners chasing new PR’s

Philosophy

Flexibility is the biggest key for coaches, everyone is different, so everyone needs something different from a coach. I am able to help you with nutrition, mental strength, and accountability

Quality over Quantity, junk miles are just that junk. Runs should serve a purpose. Each week runs will range from recovery and speed-work to long runs, there are no unnecessary miles. Your time is important, so make everything count.

Coaching Experience

I have helped runners accomplish many distance PR’s including everything from 5k’s to their first Ultra. I have also guided runners to new time PR’s.

About Me

I worked in restaurant management for 30 years while I trained for marathons and Ultras, so I understand the time restraints on training and trying to maintain family. I went to Savannah College of Art and Design to major in Illustration. I love all art, whether it be fine art or culinary, but I especially love music! I listen to every form of music, from punk to country. I am always trying to better myself by taking new certifications for nutrition, personal fitness or of course running. I have a beautiful family with 3 kids, 3 dogs, 4 cats, and a very wonderful wife.

Big Influences

Jason Koop is a huge influence in training style, as I enjoy a science based approach to everything. Jason Green of the Yeti Trail Runners has been a huge influence just in general as how I see other people and accept different people as they are.

Race History

I’ve run multiple marathons and ultras. I’m not a fast runner anymore and have enjoyed both sides of racing. I’m very proud of my 8 years in a row of the Peachtree Road Race that I ran with my wife.

I’m proud of my DNF’s (Yeti 100 among a couple others) as well as my finishes. Everything is an opportunity to meet great people and see beautiful areas of the country.

    Adam Barry

I decided to work with Adam for my second ultramarathon prep. He provided a plan that protected me from injuries while maximizing my performance. We also had weekly calls to discuss the training and race strategy. I ended up performing far better than I hoped and I attribute that all to Adam. He is an excellent coach that I look forward to working with again. Whether you are completing your first ultra or trying to win it all, Adam is the coach for you.

  2. 5 out of 5

    Kevin Barry

Shortly before starting to work with Adam, I had just finished my first half marathon and decided I wanted to attempt a 50-mile ultra within five months. Recognizing the short timeline, Adam developed a thoughtful plan that ensured I was well prepared while minimizing the risk of overuse injuries. Throughout the training process, he was always available to answer questions and made adjustments to the plan based on how my body was feeling. As someone with a busy work schedule, I really appreciated how manageable the training program was while still preparing me effectively. I went into the race simply hoping to finish, but I ended up exceeding my expectations by finishing in the top half of runners. I would absolutely recommend Adam to both new and experienced runners alike.
