Specialties

Whether you’re just getting started, looking for a change, chasing a new PR, or ready to compete at a higher level, I’ll help you get there. I work with athletes across all distances and disciplines, from 5km to 100 miles, on trail and road.

Every runner is different, so every plan starts with you. I’ll look at your running history (even if you do not have one yet!) and your lifestyle. From there, we’ll build something that actually fits your life and moves you toward your goals.

Your plan will cover everything that goes into running well, not just the miles. I’ll give you strength work for home or the gym, form drills, warm up and cool down routines, recovery and nutrition guidance, and race-specific preparation.

Philosophy

When I started training seriously, I was a walk-on athlete for the cross country and track teams at Northern Arizona University. Training was tough and I was far from the best. In fact I spent most of my time at the back of the pack! But by showing up every day, putting in the work, and trusting the process, I started to see results. I eventually exceeded my own expectations, and even turned running into a career. That success didn’t come from a few big breakthroughs, but from laying a strong foundation brick by brick. That experience taught me the value of consistency and patience, and it’s the same approach I take when I coach my own athletes.

A good coach doesn’t just tell you how far and how fast to run. The time, the distance, and the finish line matter and we’ll work hard towards them. But I want you to achieve your goals and help you keep reaching further. That means finding real enjoyment and fulfillment in your training. I’ll guide you, but you’ll also learn to understand when to push, when to hold back, how to listen to your body, and develop and trust your intuition. Part of that is finding the edge of your performance, pushing it a little further, and learning to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. That looks different for every athlete.

A good training plan has to fit your life, not the other way around. Some athletes respond well to higher mileage, while others do better with more structured workouts. We all have different work, family, and life commitments, and some weeks are more difficult than others. Recovery through rest, cross-training, and nutrition is just as important as the hard workouts. Effective coaching needs honest and open communication so that what we figure out what actually works for you. I’m not going to give you a generic plan and disappear.

From the outside, running looks like an individual sport, but that’s never been my experience. The coaches who pushed me, the athletes I trained with, and the friends and family who supported me are the reason I found success doing something I love. You deserve that kind of support around your running too, and I’m here to be part of your team.

You’re going to run further, go faster, feel stronger, and build real confidence in yourself.

Coaching Experience

I became a full-time professional runner in 2016 and started coaching not long after. I mainly work with trail and endurance runners, but also coach road runners. I’ve worked with athletes at nearly every level, from high school cross country and people brand new to the sport, to competitors chasing podiums at 100-milers.

About Me

I’ve been a lifelong athlete and grew up spending most of my free time in the mountains. When I’m not running you can find me skiing, mountain biking, cycling, or in the gym. If I can be outside, I’m happy!

Running has taken me to some incredible places and introduced me to wonderful people along the way. I ran my first ultra, a 100km, in 2016 and have been competing in trail races around the world ever since, from 10 miles to 100 miles. Some of my favorite places the sport has taken me are Italy and South Africa.

Running adds to my life rather than consumes it. It’s a good excuse to explore my other hobbies like discovering new music, listening to podcasts, spending time in nature, and meeting interesting people. It also fuels my appetite, which works out well because I love cooking and baking (my specialty is carrot cake!).

Big Influences

My coaching has been shaped by the coaches I’ve trained under, particularly Eric Heins at NAU, and the work of Jack Daniels and Arthur Lydiard. I’m also inspired by the work of Stacey Sims, whose research on female physiology has influenced how I approach training, fueling, and recovery for female athletes.

I’ve also been lucky enough to train alongside some of the top endurance athletes in the world. But more than competitors, these were friends. Training and competing within a group who wants you to succeed as much as you want to succeed yourself showed me that healthy competition is possible and makes you a better athlete. I want to help every athlete I work with find that same enjoyment in competition and training.
