Specialties

I specialize in training distance runners – from 5K to marathon distances.

Philosophy

I want to help people find joyful play in their running, and to harness that joy to achieve their peak performance. I use Steady State to coach, which is an app designed by physical therapists to help prevent running injuries. As a runner in my 40s, I know first-hand the risk of injury, and integrate recovery data into training plans to track recovery and help you stay injury free.

My coaching philosophy is to design a flexible science-based plan based on YOU that works with your schedule and all of the other things you have going on in your life.

Coaching Experience

I am an UESCA-certified coach. I am looking to help athletes who are new to running, or who have been running for a little while and are looking for some guidance and structure along the way.

About Me

I have two young kids, and understand the importance of integrating a training program into life – balancing work, parenting, life, and training enough to meet your big running goals. I’ve been through ups and downs with training, dealt with injuries and setbacks, and am eager to share my experience and knowledge with other athletes. I became a UESCA-certified running coach to learn the science behind running and how to build training programs that are based on data and minimize the risk of injuries.

Outside of running, I try to stay active with my kids even though we live in a city – I love being outside and enjoy river/lake kayaking, skiing, and swimming. In NYC, I enjoy seeing Broadway shows and plays.

Big Influences

I would say my biggest influences and role models are amazing women distance runners who persevere against all odds. Some of my favorites are Shalane Flanagan and Des Linden – these distance road runners have guts and are so inspiring!

A fun fact about me, I am an avid reader and I love reading ANY books about running, particularly by ultrarunners. I love hearing their stories and learning from their grit. Some I’ve loved include Des Linden’s Choosing to Run, Maggie Martens’s Better, Faster, Stronger, Adharanand Finn’s The Rise of the Ultrarunners, and more…

Race History

Growing up in Virginia, I had asthma as a child and started running to help strengthen my lungs. I ran track in middle school and recreationally throughout high school, college, and beyond as an outlet to relieve stress. After moving to NY, I started running races through the New York Road Runners (NYRR). I took a break after having kids, and then signed up to run a 10K after my son turned 1 to start getting stronger and feeling like myself again. I was so proud of running that 10K! I wanted to see what else I could do.

I was registered to run my first marathon (NYC) in Nov. 2020. When it was cancelled, my brother and I ran our own unofficial marathon course throughout NYC. Despite there being zero crowds, I was hooked. Since then, I’ve run 7 other road marathons including NYC (3x), Chicago, Wineglass, Philadelphia, and Jersey City. My favorite distance right now is the marathon, although I’m running my first ultramarathon (50K) this year and have been convinced to dip my feet into trail running – I will be running my first trail half marathon this year.
