Philosophy

I believe being a great runner involves many components, not only getting in the miles and speed work but also other factors including proper sleep, strength work, and good nutrition. I don’t believe that every runner needs to be a high mileage runner and focus more on quality. It’s important to enjoy the process, the training, and keep it fun!

Coaching Experience

My main coaching experience comes from working as a physical therapist and helping patients return to running post-injury. I have also coached friends for various distances including 5k, half marathon, and marathon. My experience has been with collegiate, post-collegiate, and middle-age, however I love working with all ages!

About Me

I first started running when I was a freshman in high school and I definitely was not very good at first, I just joined the track team because my friends were doing it. I came to love it and became committed and was able to walk on to my college cross country and track teams and be a D1 runner. I learned a lot during my 4 years as a collegiate runner and eventually pivoted to half marathons after I was done with college running and eventually found my way to the marathon. I have now run 11 marathons, including 5 of the world major marathons. When I first started running marathons my PR was 3:25 and I have since been able to lower it to 2:53. While the marathon is my main event I love challenging myself with some more speed and jumping into some other race distances, including the mile, 5k, 10k, or half marathon.

When I’m not running I’m either working as a physical therapist, spending time with my husband and 2 dogs, or hanging out with friends. As a physical therapist I work with an active population and a lot of runners. My husband is also a marathon runner and we spend a lot of time together logging miles!

Big Influences

I have had many great coaches over the years between my high school and college coaches. While they all had slightly different coaching styles, the main theme across them all was to train hard but to have fun and never lose sight as to why you’re doing this. None of them believed that you had to be a super high mileage runner to be successful and I have kept that philosophy throughout my own training.

  • Many half marathons and 5ks
  • I raced the 10k on the track one time and while I never need to run 25 laps around a track again, I do love a good road 10k!
