Philosophy
Consistency is THE key. There is no magic workout, only consistently working and recovering that get you stronger, more adapted, and fitter than you were before. This can be achieved alone but is streamlined and a more thorough and enjoyable process with the guidance of a coach and community of like-minded athletes.
Coaching Experience
I have coached in different capacities for 13 years. I coached kids age 7-17 in various sports at a camp in Arkansas for 4 summers, then I was a certified personal trainer until I had my first child. I got my RRCA level 1 certification in March 2022 and have been working to continue growing my knowledge and coaching experience since then. I am interested in getting the level 2 certification or a different, ultramarathon-specific certification as well.
About Me
I’m a stay at home mom of 3 kids, and we’ve unexpectedly ventured into the world of homeschooling. I live in Florida and thankfully seem to handle heat training pretty well. My first ultramarathon was at the Keys 50k in 2019 while I was 9 months postpartum and still breastfeeding my second son, and I managed to win my age group despite feeling unsure of my performance. I have since completed 10 more ultramarathons up to the 50 miler with aspirations to achieve a hundred miler in the future. I started running trails in the fall of 2021, and that’s when I really fell in love with the trail and ultra community. I still have aspirations to achieve the Boston standard, but trail and ultra running also opened my eyes to so many new goals I want to chase. I’m nowhere near my peak fitness yet, and I know now I’m the only limit to what I can achieve!
Big Influences
My local running groups have given me some awesome mentors and supporters, but I’m also a huge Sally McRae fan. She is the epitome of consistency for DECADES, and she helped me see that the strongest athletes are the ones who never let setbacks keep them down. It’s easy to see her recent success and assume she is just a natural, but when you look closer at how hard she has been working and adapting and for how many years, it’s clear the formula is to just keep grinding, day after day, and to learn to enjoy the process. Matt Fitzgerald has also been someone whose training philosophies and books have influenced me recently, so I expect his work on the 80/20 method will largely affect the way I coach going forward.
Race History
My first 50k was life-changing because I truly never thought I could survive an ultramarathon. I have been proving myself wrong about my limits ever since, and even when I have new and huge, scary goal races, a smaller piece of me doubts whether I can actually do it. I also raced a 6 hour ultra in October 2022 that was a blast and somehow landed me on a list of top 100 female ultramarathon performances of 2022 in Ultra Running Magazine. That race showed me just how far having fun at a race can take you performance-wise.

Missy is pure joy and enthusiasm!!! I hired Missy to help me run my first marathon in honor of my son and Mom! I am a working Mom who has a two year old with special needs and was caring for my Mom as she kicked cancer to the curb. Missy guided through the ups and downs of training and managing my time to train! Her attention to detail was amazing and she had SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE that she freely shared from nutrition, supplements, weight training and supplies! She always responded almost immediately with whatever I needed and she became my lighthouse reaching this goal that absolutely changed my life! I 100% guarantee you WILL NOT regret making Missy a part of your team… She will no doubt hold your hand as you do hard things and crush glass ceilings!!!

I hired Missy to train me for a fall destination marathon. It was my first experience with a running coach. She worked around my run club schedule and was very accommodating whenever I needed to adjust the training schedule. She even gave me some strength training work when I had a tough Mudder on the calendar. During the 4 month training period, I had a 5K race. I was floored when I got a PR…I thought those sub 25 minute 5K days were long gone. When the big day arrived, I ended up surprising myself with a sub 4 hour marathon (Missy said she wasn’t surprised but I certainly didn’t think I was capable of that).

Missy is amazing! I reached out to her when I first found out I was pregnant in March and ever since then I’ve been training with her. She helped prepare me for a half marathon at 14 weeks pregnant and I finished the race in 2:19, which surpassed my goal. But Missy is more than a coach and trainer. She becomes a friend that truly cares about you, your well-being, and has patience for your goals. Missy has given me the confidence I needed in myself to train and work out while pregnant but also look forward to postpartum for the first time out of three pregnancies. So glad I get to pause for a second during this pregnancy and get back with her postpartum for an exciting journey of many goals!
