Specialties

Run Smarter. Go Farther. Train with Purpose.

I specialize in helping runners go from 10Ks to 50-milers with confidence, purpose, and a plan that fits their real life. Whether you’re training for your first ultra or chasing a personal best, I’ll work with you to create a personalized strategy built around your goals, experience, and schedule.
I’m certified through UESCA in Ultra Running Coaching, and I bring over 30 years of strength training experience to help my athletes build the durability and resilience needed for long-distance success.

My coaching approach is highly interactive, individualized, and built on years of firsthand racing, pacing, and crewing experience. I’ve seen just about everything that can go sideways during an event — and I know how to adapt, overcome, and keep moving forward.

💡 What I Offer:
🏃‍♀️ Personalized training plans from 10K to 50 miles
🏋 Strength integration for injury prevention & performance
🗓 Customized long-, medium-, and short-term planning
🎯 Gear, nutrition, & race strategy guidance
📅 Real-life training solutions — I’m a parent of 4 and a full-time manager, so I get the demands of a packed schedule
🤝 Small roster of athletes to ensure high-touch, personalized coaching
🧠 Coach-athlete fit that actually fits — because training plans (and coaches) aren’t one-size-fits-all

If you’re looking for a coach who understands both the grind of the long run and the reality of a busy life, let’s talk. My goal is to help you train smarter, stay consistent, and cross that finish line stronger than ever.

Philosophy

“I’m here to help you hit your running goals—whether you’re chasing a PR, finishing your first ultra, or just learning how to run smarter and stronger. With years of experience pacing runners, crewing races, and running everything from mid-pack to the front, I know where the real action happens—and that’s where I thrive.

My specialty? Helping runners troubleshoot and push through the unexpected. If it can go wrong in a race, I’ve probably seen it—or lived it. And I’ve learned how to get runners through it. My approach is grounded, adaptable, and built around real race-day experience. Let’s work together to make your training purposeful, your mindset strong, and your race day unforgettable.”

Coaching Experience

While I’m newer to the professional running coach space, I bring over 10 years of ultra-running experience and a strong foundation in coaching from other disciplines. I’ve spent years coaching athletes in boxing, weightlifting, and general fitness, helping them build strength, discipline, and resilience — all of which translate directly to endurance training.

My background in strength and combat sports gives me a unique perspective on durability, mental toughness, and movement efficiency — key elements for long-distance runners looking to stay injury-free and perform at their best.

As a coach, I combine the science of structured training with the real-world wisdom earned through years on the trail and in the gym. I understand how to push athletes toward their goals while respecting the demands of everyday life, because I live it too.
I’m committed to helping each athlete become stronger, smarter, and more confident — on and off the trail.

About Me

I didn’t start out as a runner. My first love was lifting heavy things and setting them back down — strength training has been a part of my life for over 30 years. But over time, I found myself craving a new challenge, something that pushed me mentally and physically in a different way. That’s when I laced up my running shoes.

It started with a half marathon… then a full. Eventually, I stumbled into the world of trail and ultra running thanks to a fun, welcoming group of runners — and I was instantly hooked. There’s something about the ultra community, the trails, and the shared suffering that just feels like home.
For the past decade, I’ve found joy and purpose in getting lost in the woods, running long distances, and chasing big goals. The trails are where I feel most alive.

I’m also a father to four amazing kids (ages 19, 17, 3, and 3 months), a proud grandpa, and I’ve been married to my best friend for 21 years. Life is full — and I know firsthand what it means to train around a busy schedule, family responsibilities, and real-world demands.

One of the greatest joys in my journey has been helping others chase down their own goals. Whether I’m coaching, crewing, pacing, or volunteering at races, I’m all in. If you’re looking for a coach who understands both the grind of ultra training and the reality of everyday life, I’d love to be a part of your journey.

Big Influences

I’m a fair but firm coach. I understand that life isn’t just about running — we have families, jobs, and responsibilities that matter. As a father of four, I know firsthand that family always comes first. But I also believe that if a goal matters to you, there’s always a way to make it work — and that’s where I come in.

My job as your coach is to help you fit training into your real life, to stay consistent, and to make progress toward your goals without burning out. Whether you’re aiming to finish your first ultra or chase a podium, I’ll meet you where you are and help you get where you want to go.

One of the biggest things that drives me is setting an example for my kids — to show them that nothing is out of reach if you’re willing to work for it. I bring that same energy to my coaching: No dream is too big when you’re ready to put in the effort.

Race History

I earned a 3rd place finish at my second-ever 50K — the Black River Classic — just three weeks after completing my first 50K. It was a brutal course with over 7 miles of sand and a good dose of climbing, but I showed up ready. My coach encouraged me to take the leap, and I’m glad I did — that race proved to me that with hard work, anything is possible.

Since then, I’ve tackled some of the most challenging and beautiful courses in the ultra world, building both my endurance and my love for the sport:

  • Fall Superior 50 Miler – Rugged, remote, and rewarding
  • Spring Superior 50K – Technical North Shore terrain
  • Quest for the Crest 50K – One of the toughest 50Ks in the U.S. with relentless elevation
  • Hixon 50K – Fast, fun, and deceptively tough
  • Mines of Spain 100K – Midwest grit meets gorgeous bluff views
  • Cle Elum Ridge 50K – Pacific Northwest singletrack at its finest
  • Kettle Moraine 50K & 100K – Rolling terrain and classic Midwest heat
  • Afton 25K – A short course with plenty of punch
  • Black Canyon 100K – A true desert test and golden ticket qualifier

These races have shaped who I am as a runner and a coach. From the punishing climbs of Quest for the Crest to the heat and grind of Black Canyon, I’ve experienced firsthand what it takes to prepare, adapt, and endure.

Personal Records

My best 50k I have ever ran came on a day that I left everything to chance. I was running dances with dirt in baraboo wi. I ended up running the fastest 50k on a hilly course 4:56 time.
