Running Coach Description
I work with runners of all levels who want to improve, stay consistent, and enjoy the process. My coaching is centered on meeting you where you are and helping you build toward your goals with smart training, clear communication, and a positive team-first mindset.
Specialties
I specialize in meeting athletes where they are skill wise, and then building plans with athletes to get them where they would like to be. Athletes have had success from the mile distance all the way to the marathon distance. We do this through supplementary work that builds a stronger athlete, that leads to consistency, that leads to results. Another aspect of athletes training is daily sports psychology which has been shown to be one of the most important parts of so many athletes success of all levels and sports.
Philosophy
My coaching philosophy centers on meeting athletes where they are and guiding them toward their individual potential. Every decision I make is rooted in helping athletes grow—whether that’s improving performance, building confidence, or developing character. I aim to create an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and motivated to become the best version of themselves.
Coaching Experience
I have been proudly coaching high school aged athletes for 5 years now, post high school athletes for 3 years, and various stints coaching athletes in their 20’s-40’s for a year now.
About Me
I’m a PE teacher and cross country/track coach who genuinely loves helping athletes grow, both on and off the course. I enjoy building team culture just as much as writing workouts, and I’m big on creating an environment where runners feel supported, challenged, and motivated. Outside of coaching, I enjoy staying active, getting outdoors, and finding ways to keep training fun and engaging.
Big Influences
I’m influenced by coaches who prioritize both performance and people. Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K) and Nick Saban have been a major inspiration in how I build relationships and develop team culture, while Jay Johnson (Running with the Buffalos), Doug Soles (Great Oak High School NXN Champion), and Jennifer Michels (National Champion steeple chase and multi national champion coach) have influenced my approach to training and athlete development. I’m always seeking out new ideas and perspectives from the running community to better support my athletes.
Race History
My racing history has been a mixed bag. I have had times where I cannot have a bad race for months on end, followed by stretches of poor performances, injuries, and failures. After a long stretch of injuries in my last year of college, two races stood out to me in having a positive impact. The first being the RMAC (Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) 10k. Having only 8 weeks of consistency, it was a championship style race. A slow first half of the race feeling like a training run, followed by a blistering back half. All that to say it was a 30 second pr. That momentum carried me into running my first marathon a few months later and shooting for a Boston Qualifier. While I started on pace for the 2:55 mark. The second half of the race felt great and ended up running 2:52 and hit the mark by just over 7 minutes.
