Philosophy
I believe great coaching is about more than mileage, paces, and workouts. It starts with understanding the person behind the athlete—their goals, schedule, stress, recovery, and life outside of running—and creating training that is both challenging and sustainable.
Because no two runners are the same, I take a personalized approach to coaching. Whether an athlete is chasing a PR, training for their first race, or simply looking to become more consistent, my goal is to meet them where they are and create a plan that fits their current season of life.
I believe running should feel empowering, not overwhelming. Through clear communication, thoughtful planning, and a balance of structure and flexibility, I help athletes understand the purpose behind their training, build confidence, and make sustainable progress.
Ultimately, my goal is to help runners become stronger, healthier, and more confident while enjoying the process and building a lasting relationship with the sport.
Coaching Experience
I’ve been coaching distance runners for just over a year after being inspired by the impact coaching had on my own running journey. Since then, I’ve worked primarily with adult runners of all experience levels, from first-time racers to athletes training for half marathons, marathons, and ultramarathons.
As a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach and a master’s student studying sport psychology, I combine evidence-based training with a personalized approach, emphasizing communication, adaptability, and long-term development to help athletes reach their goals with confidence.
About Me
Outside of coaching, I’m a lifelong learner, endurance athlete, and someone who loves exploring new experiences. Running has been a major part of my life, from chasing my own goals on the roads and trails to learning from the many challenges and lessons that come with the sport.
I’m passionate about the mental side of endurance performance and am currently pursuing my master’s degree in sport psychology, which has strengthened my belief that confidence, mindset, and self-awareness are just as important as the physical training.
When I’m not running or coaching, you can usually find me reading with a good cup of coffee, hiking, exploring new places, or spending time outdoors. I’m always looking for opportunities to experience new places and chase adventure. One of my proudest travel accomplishments is visiting all seven continents!
I love that running connects people from all different backgrounds, and one of my favorite parts of coaching is getting to know each athlete’s story and helping them discover what they’re capable of—both in running and beyond.
Big Influences
My coaching style has been shaped by the coaches who have guided me throughout my own running journey, especially my longtime coach, Jon Green, whose individualized approach and emphasis on athlete development inspired me to pursue coaching myself.
I’m also influenced by training systems that emphasize consistency, gradual progression, and preparing athletes to perform at their best while staying healthy. I draw from evidence-based endurance training principles, along with lessons learned through my own experiences as an athlete, to create training plans that are both purposeful and practical for each runner.
Race History
Some of my most memorable running experiences have come through racing the Abbott World Marathon Majors. These races have been about much more than the miles—they’ve allowed me to explore new cities, experience different cultures, and share the start line with runners from around the world.
Each major has reminded me why I love this sport: the dedication behind the training, the energy of race day, and the incredible community that surrounds running. These experiences have taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of embracing the process, not just the outcome.
My journey through the Marathon Majors has deepened my appreciation for the many reasons people run, and those lessons continue to shape how I coach and support athletes through their own goals.

Ben Samel –
I started working with Codi with the goal of simply “make running fun again.” Running had gone from something I enjoyed to something that just the idea of it stressed me out and gave me anxiety.
Make running fun isn’t a typical goal, but Codi 100% embraced it and the challenge. She cares about my mental state and my relationship with running as much, if not more, than she cares about my performance.
Somehow Codi has made it so I don’t feel like there is any pressure. Even when I have what I think is a scary workout, I am no longer anxious and feel zero pressure.
Running has gone from a stressor to stress relief.
After a recent group run, several runners all commented on how much of a stronger runner I have become, and they asked me what the secret is. I told them “Codi”

Training for a marathon felt overwhelming to me at first, but from the very beginning, Coach Codi created a structured plan that felt challenging yet realistic for my fitness level and schedule. She didn’t just focus on mileage and pace, but also on recovery and mindset.

Training for my first marathon on my own felt very challenging and a bit intimidating. I had no idea where to begin, but one conversation with Codi was enough for me to know that I wanted to go through this journey with her. Codi has always been very attentive to how I’m feeling, both physically and mentally, and she genuinely cares about my well being 💖

I’ve been working with Codi since the beginning of this year, and it’s been a fantastic experience. She is supportive, compassionate, responsive, and genuinely fun to work with. Thanks to her personalized training plans and weekly guidance, I’ve already seen noticeable improvements in my running across multiple race distances.
I’m currently training for my first full marathon with Codi, and I feel confident and well-prepared because of her thoughtful planning and encouragement. She understands that life happens and is flexible when plans need to change, while still keeping me accountable and motivated to reach my goals.
I highly recommend Codi to runners of any experience level. She creates realistic, effective training plans and is an incredible coach to have in your corner.
