Philosophy
I help create lifelong runners and resilient humans. Running builds a set of mental and physical tools that can be directly applied to other sports and aspects of life, and I help athletes explore how running can serve them. I meet athletes where they’re at and help them go as far as they want to (pun intended). I believe in achieving outcomes in manageable increments with realistic timelines.
Coaching Experience
For 20 years, I’ve coached rock climbers, ski patrollers, ROTC students, and mountain adventurers from teens to masters age groups. I am the head distance coach for a large high school cross country and track program where I work with over 100 young runners of all skill levels.
Recent athletes have qualified for Nike Outdoor Nationals, NXN, Brooks XC Nationals, and have PR’d at CIM.
About Me
I love the process of training and thinking about how to make training work for myself and others. I love the opportunities in racing and the potential for what it can tell us about ourselves.

Deepi Holt –
My high school freshman daughter trained with Day over the winter to prepare for the upcoming spring track season. He began by taking the time to understand her current health, nutrition, activity level, and personal goals. Based on that information, he developed a personalized training plan tailored specifically to her needs. During their sessions, Day carefully analyzed her running form and technique, offering thoughtful feedback and encouragement while pointing out areas where she could improve. His supportive approach helped build both her confidence and her skills. Because of the positive experience and progress she made, we plan to continue working with Day during the summer offseason to prepare for the upcoming cross country season.

Day is a committed and knowledgeable long distance running coach. For the past four months, he has been helping me reach my upcoming marathon time goal. I have a running routine that he has heavily modified to focus on speed. So far, I have PR’d a 10K and half marathon training races–and the full marathon race is coming up soon so we are hoping for the best. What I really appreciate is that he consistently meets with me at a local track, closely observes my form and condition, and provides helpful recommendations for what to change, and what drills to work on for the coming week. He is clear about when to push harder vs when to ease off to let my body recover. He also shares his knowledge about body mechanics, physiology, nutrition, and recovery. Day is the head cross country coach and long distance event track coach at a local high school, and what is so flattering is that often expects of me what he expects of his young athletes even though I am multiple times older than them–way past my prime. If you are looking to improve your running performance, look to Day for coaching.

Day is a superstar coach! He has helped me manage my recovery from knee injury and get back to running stronger and healthier than ever. Cannot say enough great things!

I cannot say enough great things about Day! He has a rare gift for connecting with runners of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re a seasoned runner looking to fine-tune your skills or a beginner just starting your journey, Day meets you exactly where you’re at with encouragement, expertise, and personalized guidance. His coaching style is supportive yet challenging in all the right ways. He takes the time to understand your goals, strengths, and areas for improvement, crafting a plan that truly works for you. I originally hired Day to work with my eight-year-old to speed up her running to support her soccer, but then I decided I wanted to work with him as well! And, my tween ended up working with him on her track work too. Whether you’re looking for help with youth sports, personal fitness goals, or advanced training, he’s an all-around great coach. Highly recommend!
