I love to work with runners from beginners to advanced athletes. As a coach, it is so fun to help an athlete do things they have never done before and accomplish their goals. Because I’m currently coaching at Columbia University, I cannot coach high school or collegiate athletes.

PHILOSOPHY

I’m very passionate about running and am excited to share that with others. ⁤⁤I believe everyone has the potential to be a runner, and I strive to create a positive, fun journey for every athlete I work with. ⁤⁤Each training plan is catered to the individual, taking into account their goals and experience in the sport. ⁤

⁤One of my main focuses as a coach is consistency in training. ⁤⁤It’s key to long-term success and progress, both physically and mentally. ⁤⁤Building a strong coach-athlete relationship is essential to this process. ⁤⁤By understanding each athlete’s unique needs and lifestyle, I can create personalized plans that fit into their life and help them reach their goals.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I started coaching formally at the NCAA D1 level in 2022. Working with athletes running cross country and 800m-10,000m, I encourage all my athletes to be versatile and focus on the things that support successful running–drills, mobility, and strength work.

I have been running for 10+ years and ran collegiately for Northern Arizona University for 5 years under Coach Mike Smith. Running at a high level along with my experience coaching has provided me with a thorough understanding of training and racing.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Folsom, CA (the start line for CIM and also known for Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”). I started participating in track and field in middle school and more seriously distance running in high school. I competed at Northern Arizona University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, Master’s of Education in Human Relations and certificate in Ethnic Studies.

I now reside in New York City, coaching at Columbia University. I enjoy running with different run clubs around the city and finding the best coffee roasters wherever I travel.

BIG INFLUENCES

My biggest influences are two of the coaches I had during my running career. The first was my high school coach Robert Grove, who showed me what it was like to care about the individual and foster a positive coach-athlete relationship. I got into coaching because of his influence. My other large coaching influence is my college coach Mike Smith. He encouraged me to get into coaching and his work with Jack Daniels influences my training style.

RACING HISTORY

I raced across the country in college at high level meets. With NAU, I ran at the NCAA XC championships twice, finishing as high as 44th, and at the first round of the NCAA Championships in track for the 5000m.

PRs

  • 1 mile: 4:43
  • 5k: 16:11
  • 6k (XC): 20:13
