Coaching Experience
I founded the Sunshine Striders in 2023 to help everyday runners (and nonrunners) discover their potential. Members of the have completed numerous 5Ks and earned multiple age group awards. The group’s culture is built on encouragement, consistency, and celebrating each other’s achievements.
From 1993 to 1995, I coached children ages 6–12 in sprinting, and track fundamentals. This early experience taught me patience, creativity, and the importance of building confidence early.
As a longtime chamber CEO and certified corporate wellness coach, I’ve coached colleagues to improve performance, reduce stress, and build sustainable habits. This background gives me a unique ability to support runners balancing training with demanding careers.
About Me
I didn’t grow up as a runner. In fact, I didn’t start running until after leaving high school. With no coach of my own, I learned the sport the long way. I watched what others were doing, studied every book and magazine I could find, and experimented relentlessly. That self-taught foundation shaped my coaching philosophy: curiosity, discipline, and the belief that anyone can grow with the right guidance.
Over the decades, running has woven itself into every chapter of my life, from coaching children in track and field, to leading adults toward their first finish lines, and to integrating movement and mindfulness into my work as a corporate wellness and performance coach. Today, I’m the founder of VitalStride Performance Coaching, where mind, body, and performance converge.
I’m also a lifelong learner. Age may slow me down, but it has never stopped me from finding ways to improve and continue competing. I still train, still compete, and still push myself to discover what’s possible.
