I like to break things down into steps, to approach one thing at a time, ensuring a solid foundation and a positive practice of habits for body and mind. Some steps are fun, some are arduous. But when we are capable of focusing on the step we’re on and trusting our track, I believe that we are all capable of surprising ourselves. I have been endlessly inspired and driven towards my goals by coaches. I do not follow one philosophy but believe we can all learn something new from each other and from each individual experience, mind, and body. I do, however, respect the philosophies of Megan and David Roche, Jack Daniels, and Jason Koop. I would say I am a mixture of these.

In addition to being a professional athlete for On Running, I am a mother of two young kiddos, sister, wife, teacher, baker, ultra runner….. My days are filled with organizing the needs of the kids, husband, chickens, garden, and my running. Fitting everything in and finding time to rest is my superpower. I understand the constant dance of being a parent and athlete.

I was first introduced to running at a young age. I was in middle school when I became hooked on running track and x-country. I have profound memories watching the Ironman recaps and Tour de France with my dad and to this day we share our excitement in the ultra distance sports. Both of my parents inspired me and shared their love of movement and the outdoors. I was recruited on the USA triathlon team at 16 and raced on the team until 19 years old. I then quit all competitive sports for over a decade, feeling burnt out at a young age and needing to find the balance that sport requires when you want to find success and value in the competition. My parents moved to Leadville when I was in college at CSU and I was quickly fascinated by the LT100. I was a barista at City on a Hill in Leadville, working on my teaching degree on the side during the summers. I was immersed in the hype and excitement of the LT race series and enjoyed serving coffee to the athletes and learning about their stories. I was interested in doing the run someday. In 2017, I finished the LT100 two months pregnant (I didn’t know!). I ran the race in 28:46. In 2021, I finished Leadville in 22:06, coming in 2nd behind my friend Annie Hughes. I have been racing with On ever since. For me, understanding my values and having a solid understanding of what competition means to me allows me to train, race, compete, and coach.

I, myself, use a coach and have for most of my professional training. It is important to me to be able to bounce ideas off of coaches and learn the most amount of knowledge from the information that is out there. And there is a lot! There are so many wonderful outcomes with using a coach. Some being:

  • Knowing there is a rhyme and reason to the plan
  • Having a plan
  • Accessing knowledge
  • Understanding the body more intimately
  • Camaraderie and cheer squad
  • Connecting with races
  • Training Plan platform and App
    • Store workouts and archive them
    • Connect with coach 24hr/day
    • Access all the tools that app offers
  • Knowledge on Race Captains and Aid Stations
  • Discounts on running and performance companies
  • Team Run Run access to group social media and discounts

I enjoy many types of training but mostly get excited about trail running. I am influenced greatly by watching others succeed and work for their goals. My biggest approach to training is to know your body and mind well enough to make decisions that are healthy. I find it extremely important to continuously ask myself “why” it is important for me to complete certain goals when it comes to my training and racing. Two of the people that continuously inspire me are Emilie Forsberg and Lucie Bartholomew. Both are amazing athletes that carry their core values into the sports.

Amazing coach! Super thoughtful, caring, respectful, and knowledgable. This is my first time hiring a coach for ultra distance training. Having accountability has helped me improve my performance so much. Coach Genevieve is great to talk to and learn from. She makes my training plans every week, and we have a zoom meeting every month as well. I Highly recommend coach Genevieve 🙌

Genevieve has been incredibly encouraging and uplifting to work with. She’s helped me guide me through training for an upcoming marathon, which has given me a sense of confidence in myself and my abilities that I haven’t had before. It is clear that she genuinely cares about me and my running journey, and I’m grateful to be working with her!

    Cecelia Williams

Genevieve is an amazing coach. She is responsive and has allowed my training plan to be flexible but have guidance, which is exactly what I needed. She is supportive and works with me during injury to create a plan that gets me back to running. Genevieve truly cares about me as a person and as an athlete, something that is essential in a coach/athlete relationship. I can’t say enough good things about Genevieve. She is helping me reach big goals this summer, and I wouldn’t want any other coach to help me out.

Genevieve is an amazing coach! I’m a completely new runner and she’s really helped me grow my aerobic base and start traing for my goals. She’s been so patient and encouraging with me as I’m learning and growing. The training plan is amazing! I’m always pushing myself or trying something new without doing too much or injuring myself. I’m never board or overwhelmed.
She knows what it’s like to be a busy mom and a runner. I believe she’d be incredible to work with no matter where you are in your running journey or how full your life is.
I feel so blessed to have Genevieve in my corner! You will too!

    Genevieve is the absolute best!

I attempted Leadville 100 in 2021 without a coach and came away with a stress fracture and a race deferral for 2022. Determined to get to the starting line healthy with my sights on the big belt buckle, G helped make that goal a reality in 2022. Crossing the finish line in just over 23 Hours and 40th overall, it wouldn’t have happened without her!

While my goals and plans for the year have shifted endlessly throughout the winter, Coach G has helped me build my aerobic capacity while staying healthy and happy along the way. I feel confident for whatever adventures the summer will bring since I know her coaching is in my corner.

I’ve really enjoyed working with Genevieve the past few months! She provides gentle and consistent guidance and encouragement during training. She is a great resource for both beginners and more experienced ultra runners , and has really worked with my hectic work schedule to find a training schedule that works for me. I am looking forward to the months ahead and her continued support as we near a 50k in March!

It’s been great working with Genevieve! She’s super knowledgeable and has, and still is, living life as an elite athlete and parent and gets the life balance piece.

Her coaching program makes good sense and has the right balance of hard days and easy days.

There are some pro athletes who just make it up as they go along and can never seem to mentor others in their same success. This is not true here! She knows what has brought her success and can communicate that to others and coach others on that path as it relates to all aspects of racing – not just the workout plan.

Genevieve is a very thoughtful, invested coach. She cares about your individual goals and your individual abilities. She is realistic but believes in you! Having Genevieve as my coach allowed me to see what I am capable of and makes me excited to get back into shape after having baby number two. And not only back in shape, but to thrive in my running and racing!

Jenna has been a wonderful coach over the last few months. I’m currently training for a 50K in April and am feeling more and more prepared by the day.

I appreciate Jenna’s knowledge and her own athletic history. She, herself, is a mom to two kiddos, and understands the dynamics and balance of family and training. She is quick to modify work outs if something comes up-which is inevitable, being a working momma. Jenna is quick to respond, gives encouraging and helpful feedback, and is always able and enthusiastic in answering my many questions. I’m grateful that she takes into account my schedule and works with my other commitments to help me find a balance with all that I have going on.

I have really loved incorporating different work out plans and goals throughout my runs. This adds in variability and challenging but doable times to strive for. She watches how my training has improved and or changes and makes modifications on work outs to reflect my progress.

Incorporating other forms of cross training is important to me. She is mindful to add this in and helps me to understand rest days are also needed. Her perspective is valued as I add in this variability throughout the week.

The time she has taken to understand my goals is greatly appreciated. I have loved working with Jenna and look forward to the next several months of training to reach my goal.
