PHILOSOPHY

Coaching is more than just preparing for a race. It’s about finding a balance to train physically and to mentally prepare for a goal. Coaching to me is so much more than formulating works, it’s about working together, communication and an invested approach to determine what works specifically for you. Life has a lot of moving pieces, I’m invested in the person first, to balance your athletic goals to fit your lifestyle.

My coaching background started during my undergraduate, where I pursued a degree in organic chemistry. I earned my masters degree in Neuroscience and Physiology and structural biology from University of Colorado, Denver. With over 10 years of coaching experience, or all age ranges, my coaching style is balanced with a scientific, yet compassionate approach.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I started coaching tennis players back in 2010, as I’ve started my running career I’ve shifted to coaching both teams and individuals, from all ages an abilities. My specialty is trail and ultra running, however, I also coach road runners, cyclists and multi sport athletes.

ABOUT ME

I’m an endurance athlete specializing in ultra marathon distance trail running, having started running in 2011 and coming from a background of high level athletics, playing tennis in college. In 2012 I ran my first marathon at the CIM marathon (3:15) and, unsatisfied with my time, I decided to train more specifically for speed, then ran a self-supported marathon of 2:51. After that, I switched exclusively to trail running where I prefer steep, technical terrain, earning my nickname “Hillygoat.”

Based in Colorado, where I grew up, I’m also the author of Out and Back: A Runner’s Story of Survival Against All Odds. I’ve earned course records and wins all over the world, racing 50km all the way up to 170km, and took up gravel bike riding, which I’ve raced and competed in one of the toughest races in the country, the Unbound Gravel 200 mile bike race, along with several multi-day stage races.

BIG INFLUENCES

My previous coach who was a cross country skier! I constantly am reading the literature in sports physiology and sports psychology so I can stay up to date and adaptable to different athletes and people’s needs.
