Specialties

I have over 15 years of experience training for road races, from 5K to half and full marathons. Whether you are looking to run your first race, set a personal record or qualify for Boston, I am excited to meet you where you are and get working on those goals together!
As someone who did not start running until later in life (ran my first race at age 31), I love to work with newer runners and masters runners.

When I first began running, I experienced injury after injury. I learned a lot from that about how to properly come back from that by managing training to get stronger and faster.

My 1:1 training includes:

  • athlete questionnaire
  • onboarding consultation
  • daily individualized activities given 1-2 weeks at a time
  • mobile app that syncs with your GPS watch
  • training and racing nutrition guidance
  • detailed race plan
  • unlimited text and email
  • scheduled phone calls

Philosophy

I believe running can be a lifelong sport when you balance it with your everyday life. I value open communication to ensure your busy schedule is being respected while also giving you the motivation you need to reach your goals.

I know running is more than just running. From my own training, I have learned the importance of nutrition (both in training and racing), rest, strength and mental health. There is so much value in bringing those aspects together in order to get you to the start line healthy and feeling strong. The confidence you gain by doing hard things will benefit you in everyday life and you will experience a physical pleasure in being fit.

I also believe you are never too old to learn new things and accomplish something great. Consistency is key!

Coaching Experience

My experience is in small group coaching with local runners. I have coached some friends and family from couch to 5k to marathon. I played a significant role in the introduction and continued training of my two kids who both became collegiate runners. In recent years, I have benefited from having a talented coach that has furthered my knowledge of training and racing.

About Me

I am from Ohio in the Akron-Canton area. I am a mom of 3 kids and a sweet golden retriever. I am employed part-time as a Nurse Practitioner. I was not an athlete growing up but picked up running after having my second kid. I purchased a treadmill to walk on to get in shape postpartum. I built up to a walk/run and remember how awesome I felt the first time I was able to run a mile without stopping! I remember googling “how far is a marathon” and thinking it seemed impossible!

I now run nearly everyday and have participated in countless races over many distances. I love the sport not only for the physical benefits, but also for the mental and social aspects. I have met some of my closest friends through running. Mostly, I like to set goals and see how hard I can push myself in order to achieve them.

Race History

I feel blessed to have so many wonderful race experiences. I am most proud of qualifying 3 times now to compete at the Abbott Age Group World Championships for the marathon. I have raced all over the United States and traveled to the other side of the globe to race.

I have qualified for the Boston marathon numerous times and have also qualified for the New York and Chicago marathons.

I have completed over 25 marathons including 4 Boston marathons. I have finished many 5ks and half marathons including the Disney Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge (twice). Once or twice a year I run a trail race on a challenging course ranging from 10-26 miles.

Holly is absolutely amazing. I have wanted to be a runner all my life, but always felt intimidated and did a lot of starting, getting defeated and quitting. Finding a running coach was a logical step, but I also felt intimidated working with coaches who were lifelong runners, thinking they couldn’t relate or empathize with where I was starting. Holly told me about her start with running postpartum and how she started with walking a few minutes at a time, then eventually working up to 23+(!!!) marathons. I felt SO validated and so relieved to have found a coach whose story was so similar to mine. She listened to my goals, she meets me where I am each week, she understands my struggles and pushes me while being positive, supportive and cheering me on for each workout. She also recommended some FANTASTIC resources for learning about fueling and hydration, which is perfect for me as a newbie. I can’t recommend Holly enough, and am looking so forward to continuing to work with her while I hopefully work up to a first marathon of my own!

Holly was the perfect coach to get me started in running and racing! At first I just wanted to improve my fitness, but her enthusiasm is so contagious that I ended up racing 5k’s, half-marathons, and eventually marathons. I’m in my 40s with a full-time job, but she’s shown me how to make the most of my time and how to approach training in a way that’s fun and leads to progress. Now I’m close to 3 hours in the marathon. Holly’s experience has saved me from making a few years’ worth of mistakes, and her passion keeps me inspired. She gets my highest recommendation!

Holly is definitely very knowledgeable about many aspects of running: she understands how to train to improve your time, how to prevent injury, how to come back from an injury if it has happened, how to fuel, how to fit running into your schedule, and so many other aspects. Holly is a very accomplished runner herself, with many years of successful running experience, but she is also down-to-earth and easy to talk to, and so encouraging to runners of all levels. I absolutely recommend her and am grateful for her guidance, encouragement, and support.

Holly is an AWESOME running coach! She is able to adapt training to accommodate my busy life. She is communicative and pushes me more than I could ever do on my own. She trains me not only in the build up but also how to execute a race with nutrition and proper pacing. With her help and encouragement I have been able to PR in the 5k and took 13 minutes off my marathon time! I have learned so much about running from her and will be forever grateful. Cannot recommend her enough!
