SPECIALTIES

New, medium, and advanced runners. Road or trail! I love helping people exceed on either/or both but I especially love longer distances and helping folks get into trail running, achieve a marathon finish, achieve a Boston Qualification, or simply look for structure in your training!

PHILOSOPHY

My coaching style is mainly that I want you to have FUN on your run and enjoy the process, but also yield results! While I want to challenge you and help you reach your potential, I also know that real life happens. My hope is to motivate you all while helping a training plan and schedule that works for you. I have helped 5k runners to ultra marathoners in various stages of life, helped moms (as a mom myself!) get back into running, helped new runners achieve their first finish line, etc.! I am here to accompany you in your next running journey, whatever that looks like for you.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I began ‘coaching’ as a volunteer in 2014 for multiple high school and kids camps. I then started as a Girls On the Run assistant coach and really found that I loved it! As life progressed, I began working for a running store and got more and more involved in the training groups we had from 1/2 to full marathons, all the while self coaching and navigating through my own races.

Eventually after multiple requests from friends, and previously feeling unequipped to give myself the title of ‘coach’, I finally said yes and decided to further pursue this journey! I took things to the next level to safely and responsibly begin coaching and received my coaching certification from RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) in March of 2021.

I have since (2020-2023) been coaching athletes anywhere from 5ks to half marathons to marathons and ultras. I’ve uncovered a true passion and I am so excited to be continuing this journey!

ABOUT ME

Hi there!

Thanks for visiting this site. I’m Jackie Hoffman, and I like to run!

Trail or road, doesn’t matter, I just like it! I started running in 2011 as a way to gather my thoughts and relieve my inner anxiety and depression. Somehow I was talked into walking onto my college cross country team and the rest is history as they say.

From 2012 to 2016 I competed in NAIA and NCAA colligate cross country. I took that passion with me into the professional world as I completed my masters and began working at a running store in Virginia ‘for fun’ as a marketing and events manager.

Overtime, it became clear this career path was the route for me and for the 5 years I have been working for Salomon running as a Marketing Manager for North America. Through my work I get to oversee sponsored races and events in the US, teach trail running clinics, lead group runs, volunteer and compete at races, and interact with a whole bunch of amazing runners that are both new and veterans of the sport.

Eventually after multiple requests from friends, and previously feeling unequipped to give myself the title of ‘coach’, I finally said yes and decided to further pursue this journey! I took things to the next level to safely and responsibly begin coaching and received my coaching certification from RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) in 2021.

In 2023 I became a mom to a beautiful baby boy and now have had to privilege of not only experiencing the postpartum return to running myself, but being able to coach and encourage other moms through that process as well.

Since 2020, I have since been coaching athletes anywhere from 5ks to half marathons to marathons and ultras. I’ve uncovered a true passion and I am so excited to be continuing this journey! I find so much joy in being your cheerleader through your run journey and hope to have the opportunity to help you find structure in your training, balance in your everyday/ fitness life, and of course help you achieve your goals with whatever your WHY is in training.

I have nothing but good things to say about Jackie. I can tell that she genuinely cares about her athletes and is passionate about helping them reach their goals. She is also super easy going and flexible with whatever comes up, even if it includes my own indecision about what race to do. If I have any questions or concerns about my training plan or any niggles that come up during the week she is always responsive and helpful. Jackie is also a super human because she had a baby and still checked in with me on my training plan for the week like it was no big deal. I feel lucky to have Jackie coaching me and wish I would’ve started working with her sooner.

Jackie has been amazing, starting with my personal history and covering past performance, athletic background, medical issues, injuries, preferences, and short and long term goals and then developing a training plan that was updated weekly based on my feedback and progress. I went from couch to half marathon and hit my A goal and felt more comfortable and prepared than I had in any past running race. Jackie strikes a perfect balance of structure and flexibility and I am excited to keep moving forward under her guidance!

Working with Jackie has been great! She’s so supportive and responsive and I felt really ready for my race. She was flexible around my schedule and other activities I do which was so appreciated!!

Jackie is an amazing coach. This training was a lot different for me since I just had a baby. I have never trained post partum before. Jackie was with me the entire way. The hardest part for me was adjusting my training as abdominal pain was happening without feeling like a failure. However, She was gentle and stern to ensure that I healed and was able to complete my training. She adjusted my train plan based upon my body needs on a weekly basis. As she did this she also adjusted my state of mind for training. I now view training as an act of body respect. I have accomplished my goals and stayed healthy, I could not have done it without Jackie.

I started training with Jackie after moving to a new state, starting a new job and trying to get a routine with running again. I’ve had my ups and downs with running but what I truly love about Jackie is how personable, flexible and always understanding she is. If I don’t hit my goals (sometimes I get close and give up), she truly doesn’t get upset or frustrated… she cheers me on for my effort and we adjust! She is very responsive and always friendly to chat about your week! I love how flexible she makes everything but still motivates me to do my best. She takes my feelings into consideration and there’s nothing more I could ask for! She is very knowledgeable and I always trust her guidance. She’s more confident in my abilities than I am but sometimes we just need a little push ???? thank you for being you, coach Jackie!

I worked with Jackie to train for my second marathon, and I am so happy I did. She built a cohesive plan that gave me the structure I needed, while offering me flexibility based on my schedule and the way my body was feeling each week. She communicated consistently, adjusted my plan when necessary, and provided me with positive reinforcement throughout the process. Working with her has given me a lot more confidence in my abilities as a runner!
