SPECIALTIES

I specialize in 5k and 10k road/trail running and track events from 800 to 10,000 meters*. I am also an avid trail and mountain runner and work with half-marathoners, marathoners, and ultra runners looking to add a little more speed and leg turnover to their running. Do you struggle with efficiency, form, or speed? I can help you with that.

I also specialize in injury recovery and prevention. Plantar fascitis, tendonitis, proper footwear, IT band issues, general flexibility problems, and more. I can help you work through these things and keep running–or get back to running.

*I am available for high school and collegiate athletes who are looking to supplement their training or off season-workouts. (Parents, I am certified k-12 educator in Oregon and have a 20+ years experience coaching and teaching here in Oregon and abroad.)

My 1:1 Coaching includes:

  • Initial running history questionnaire and free 45 min consultation (video chat, phone call, or in-person upon request)
  • Personalized daily training schedule (via Steady State app*)
  • Daily/weekly feedback on training (via Steady State app*)
  • Messaging with any and all questions (my job is to support YOU)
  • Phone calls
  • Performance tips for tips for training, racing, nutrition, and mindset
  • Strategic recovery and injury prevention

*For those looking to get away from their phones or devices I’m also happy to offer an old school method that doesn’t require GPS or a phone app

PHILOSOPHY

I could talk for hours about running philosophies…… but ultimately, for me, there are two big, basic, and over-arching principals that shape my own personal philosophy: Firstly, the running you are doing, or want to do, should be meaningful to you in some way. Secondly, everyone is different; it is important to find to what works for you. These are two topics we will cover in your initial interview and throughout your training.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

20+ years at all age levels and abilities here in the United States and Central America. State Champions and National qualifiers all the way to runners that are just trying to break 40 minutes for the 5k. I can honestly say that I take just as much pleasure in helping the 40 minute 5k runner beat their time as I have the elite runner who has just won their umpteenth race.

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Oregon, recently moved back with my family after 10 years living, teaching, and coaching in Central America. I am new to Team Run Run but definitely not new to coaching and the running community. While I love running, I also love being a dad, husband, and teacher.

BIG INFLUENCES

Oregon distance running lore and legends. Bob Julian. Marnie Mason. Personal Experience. Athletes I coach.

RACING HISTORY

Nervously toed the starting line of our local Fourth of July run when I was 11. Since then have raced in everything from high school dual meets to collegiate National Championships; 800 meters to 50 kilometers (quickly found out ultra running was not for me); different countries and continents; and in front of no one and in front of thousands. And still, no matter what, I have always been a nervous wreck whenever I get on a starting line.
