SPECIALTIES

I specialize in track distances from 800m and up and road distances from a mile and up. I particularly love helping busy people, especially parents, find ways to fit their running goals in with the chaos of their lives!

PHILOSOPHY

My top goal is to create an environment that encourages consistency and longevity in the sport! I want to help you succeed at whatever your goals may be while maintaining a sense of joy as you navigate the process to meet those goals. This to me means meeting my athletes halfway and finding that happy balance between incorporating workouts/runs that are enjoyable as well as workouts and runs that move them towards their goals. I want to be here as a support system for my athletes and provide challenging, but manageable programming by taking into account not only your current fitness but also the totality of your life bandwidth. As a coach, I’m a big proponent of flexibility and being willing to pivot when training or life throws you curveballs. I’m a big fan of Kipchoge’s saying – no human is limited – and want to work with people towards whatever their dreams are, while maintaining a sense of realism when it comes to the day to day process and timeline to get there.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I started out coaching (or rather herding) elementary through middle school aged children in track and cross country. At that age, they ran the gamut from being there to pick grass and pick up sticks to having real, concrete goals, and it was fun to navigate both sides of that. Since then, I have also coached indoor and outdoor track at a middle to high school level. I’ve also coached high schoolers in the off season for track and cross country.

I started helping with mentoring at our local club 5k program and eventually helped our club develop the group training marathon program that they currently use.

In 2019, I started working with adults individually, mostly with people aiming for marathon goals (whether that was simply completion or a time standard like Boston). I’ve had individuals who’d struggled to complete a marathon finish feeling strong and others who took off large chunks of time to hit their BQ.

ABOUT ME

I am a mother to a wild child and wife to a former American Ninja Warrior contestant (he made it to Vegas finals!). When I’m not coaching, I work as a draftsperson for a semi-custom home builder, dabble a bit in art, and chase my kid around. I love animals and we live with a small menagerie. I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) and since have lived in Tennessee, West Virginia, New York state, Maryland, Germany, and now Colorado. I also love music and have a rather eclectic Spotify playlist for my running!

BIG INFLUENCES

  • Jack Daniels
  • Lydiard
  • In general, I’m a big believer in flexibility. I’ve had athletes who can handle high running mileage, while others do a lot better substituting endurance cross training for some easy runs

RACING HISTORY

I started racing in middle school and ran for my varsity cross country and track teams in high school, where I accumulated 2 conference titles in track. I went on to run in college at Virginia Tech (very briefly) where I was primarily a middle distance runner on the track, racing the 800m and 1500m. I took a break about halfway through college and started back up when I graduated and in 2016 ran my first marathon in 4:35, which I steadily chipped away at, running a 3:52 at my next one and a 3:19 at my third.

In the two years after having my kid, I ran PRs in every distance from the 5k and up, eventually running a 2:58 marathon the week after his 2nd birthday while still breastfeeding, which I consider my greatest running accomplishment (so far).

  • 800m: 2:20 (2008, Gazette Relays)
