PHILOSOPHY

I truly believe anyone can be a runner, and as a coach it is my duty to help others find that belief in themselves. It is also my duty to help every runner that works with me to achieve the goals they’ve set out for themselves. My aim is to bridge the gap between my runner’s overall goal(s) and their current fitness level by creating and developing a plan that safely moves them from point A to point B.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I started coaching in 2020. I am currently the head coach of the Jenks Middle School cross-country program and an assistant coach for the track program. I’ve also started two youth running programs for the Jenks school district, Trackletes (a track club) and Trailblazers (an XC club). In addition to coaching for the school, I love being able to work 1:1 with athletes and have helped countless middle and high school runners improve their form and race times. I’ve also worked with basketball and baseball athletes on improving form and sprints with sport specific training.

Although my primary focus is youth runners, I do work with adults as well and have successfully helped several runners complete their first mile all the way up to their first 10k (so far).

In addition to running, I’ve been a qualified personal trainer since 2020 and can create strength programs for runners of all levels.

ABOUT ME

I have a degree in education and am currently a middle school Health & Wellness teacher. I have plans to begin a master’s program in the near future and hope to continue to spread the message of health to today’s youth. I am formerly an elementary P.E. teacher.

In high school I played volleyball, and I did not start out enjoying running. I tried running again in college, but it wasn’t until my 30’s I finally gained a passion and appreciation for all that running offers. Now, I want to share my passion with others and hopefully help them to see for themselves all of the wonderful benefits being a runner can provide- physically, mentally, and emotionally!

BIG INFLUENCES

It sounds cheesy, but some of my biggest influences in running are my students. I learn more from them than anyone else. It’s so inspiring in my own running journey to watch them overcome obstacles and hurdles. When I hit a plateau or rough spot in my season, they give me the push I need to keep going.

My other biggest inspiration is my daughter. I started running after almost a decade off to get healthy for her, because I wanted to be around and live longer, plus it’s still to this day something we can enjoy together!

RACING HISTORY

I ran my first 1k race at a local Firecracker fun run in 2017. Shortly after that race I did my first 5k, and from there my obsession was born! Since 2017 I have run countless 5ks, a few 10ks, a 25k, several half marathons, and I am a one time marathoner! I’ve also done a couple trail runs from 2k-5k. Running is always fun, but there’s something different in the magic of a race day!
