Philosophy
My coaching philosophy is centered on helping runners of all levels improve, stay healthy, and enjoy the process. Whether you’re training for your first 5K, aiming for a marathon personal best, or simply looking to make running a more consistent part of your lifestyle, my goal is to provide the structure, support, and accountability you need to succeed.
I believe that patience and consistency are the foundation of long-term progress. Training should not only make you faster and stronger, but also give you confidence and enjoyment in the journey. Every program I design is tailored to your unique goals, fitness level, and lifestyle — balancing structured workouts with flexibility for life outside of running.
We’ll focus on building a strong aerobic base while keeping elements of speed training in year-round to ensure continuous growth. Depending on your goals, this may include a variety of workouts such as tempo runs, intervals, fartleks, or long runs — all scaled to match where you are in your running journey.
Equally important is strength training and injury prevention. I incorporate strategies to help you stay durable and resilient, so you can train consistently without setbacks. From gym routines to simple at-home exercises, I’ll guide you in supporting your body to handle the demands of running.
Most importantly, I view running as more than just numbers on a watch — it’s a journey of self-improvement, balance, and community. My role as your coach is to keep you motivated, adapt training to your needs, and celebrate every milestone along the way.
Coaching Experience
The relationships I have with my athletes is centered on partnerships—we’ll work together to unlock your full potential and achieve your goals. Over the last year I have been a Team Run Run Coach, and it has been a privilege building relationships with each of my athletes to understand their needs and best support their running journey, while I ensure it is a fun process along the way. I recognize that every athlete is unique, and I’m committed to the importance of creating personalized plans that are tailored to YOUR needs.
About Me
Growing up in Spokane, WA, I was active in sports from a young age, playing baseball, basketball, and soccer. At 14, I discovered my passion for running, drawn by both the camaraderie with my teammates and the individual challenge the sport offered. This passion eventually led me to the University of Colorado Boulder, where I earned degrees in Business Marketing and Supply Chain Management, while also achieving 10x NCAA Division 1 All-American honors under the guidance of Mark Wetmore, Heather Burroughs, and Billy Nelson.
My success in college provided me the opportunity to sign a professional running contract with PUMA, become a member of the PUMA Elite team. Coached by Amy and Alistair Cragg, I was one of the original members of this newly established group, training in Cary, NC, for 2.5 years.
I’ve now transitioned from being a full-time professional athlete to establishing my coaching career and pursuing my passions in the athletic footwear industry, particularly in product and merchandising.
Big Influences
My dad and my college coaches—Mark Wetmore, Heather Burroughs, and Billy Nelson—were the key influences in my development as a runner.
Coached by my dad in high school, he instilled the belief in myself that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. Drawing from his own experience as a collegiate runner for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the early ’90s under the legendary coach John McDonnell, he nurtured my talent and guided me through a successful high school career.
At the University of Colorado, my growth continued under the guidance of Mark, Heather, and Billy. Mark’s training philosophy, rooted in Arthur Lydiard’s principles of aerobic development, emphasized steady-state running and building a strong aerobic base. This approach contributed to numerous PAC-12 Team Cross Country titles, NCAA Division 1 National Cross Country podium finishes, and NCAA All-American honors for our team.
Race History
Through staying healthy, hard work, and consistency, my running journey has allowed me to travel nationally and internationally to compete against some of the world’s best. From competing at national championships to World Majors, my knowledge and understanding of the sport makes me truly excited to coach and share my wisdom with you. Whether you are simply aiming to be more consistent with running or have the goal of achieving a Boston Marathon Qualifying time, I’m here to help you!
