SPECIALTIES
I specialize in coaching athletes of all abilities in road running. Whether you’re newer to running and looking for more structure or a seasoned athlete wanting to chase a new marathon PR, I want to be in your corner!
I work best with athletes that bring with them a sense of curiosity about the sport. I find that the best motivation is understanding the “why” of each step taken towards a goal. I take a holistic approach to writing a training plan, that takes every part of your life into account and makes running as enjoyable as possible. I also help my athletes with incorporating strength training, mobility, stretching, and nutrition!
PHILOSOPHY
My coaching philosophy centers on flexibility, fun, and science-based training. Running should enrich your life, not compete with it. Training for a big goal takes time and dedication, but I believe the best plans are the ones that adapt around real life—work, family, travel, stress, and everything in between. I want my athletes to feel supported, not boxed in. Flexibility doesn’t mean less structure; it means training smarter, not harder, so you can show up consistently as your best self.
Open and honest communication is the foundation of great coaching. I encourage frequent check-ins, questions, and discussions about the details—running form, shoes, nutrition, mobility, recovery, or anything else that impacts your training. I’m a big believer in understanding the why behind every workout, because informed athletes are confident athletes. When you know what a session is meant to accomplish, it’s easier to stay motivated, trust the process, and—most importantly—keep running fun.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
I’ve had the opportunity to work with adult athletes of many skill levels, coaching them to achieve their goals in distances ranging from the 5k to the marathon. I help athletes take a long view of what their goals are and help them achieve those goals through consistency and open communication.
In addition to coaching adults, I also have experience coaching kids ages 3-12 through the Somerville Road Runners’ Kids Program! Through this program, I help foster a welcoming and fun environment around the sport of running. I wholeheartedly believe that this mindset fully applies to adults, and it helps inform my coaching strategies.
ABOUT ME
I’ve been a runner since I was a freshman in high school, when I joined the cross-country team because it was the only sport that didn’t make any cuts. I started out my racing career finishing at the back of the pack on the trails of Van Cortland Park in the Bronx. Now, I’ve run countless road races, many of them being half and full marathons. Through running, I’ve been able to find a community that I love and achieve more than I ever thought I could.
I live in Somerville, Massachusetts, right outside of Boston, and I work as a cancer scientist at a biotechnology company. Outside of running, I love to spend time outside on the beach, read fantasy and sci-fi novels, ride my bike even though I’m no cyclist, and workout in a variety of ways! Right now, some of my favorite books are the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson! I also love to travel to new places, cook new dishes, and practice my Spanish every chance I get!
BIG INFLUENCES
My biggest running influences are Meb Keflezighi, Des Linden, Alexi Pappas. I’ve read each of their memoirs and cannot recommend them enough. Meb talks a lot about each of his career marathons and the lessons he learned from each of them. What stuck with me the most was how he changed his training as he aged. He allowed flexibility into his marathon training, and that allowed him to maintain a high level of running and competing for years. Des Linden is the queen of consistency, and her mantra “keep showing up” informs how I approach my own training. Whether you are feeling your best, your worst, or somewhere in between, just showing up, doing what you can, and doing it consistently will pay off. Finally, Alexi Pappas inspires me to maintain fun and whimsy in the face of doing difficult things. I especially like her take on the Rule of Thirds. When preparing to do anything difficult, you should feel normal a third of the time, great a third of the time, and bad a third of the time. This idea made me understand that a bad workout isn’t a waste of time or a step backwards. If anything, a bad workout is just filling my quota of time spent feeling bad!
RACING HISTORY
Some of the most important races that I’ve done are the 2022 Providence Marathon, the 2024 Chicago Marathon, and the 2025 Boston Marathon. Each of these races has taught me a lesson that I take with me into my coaching and my own running. These races have taught me the value of community, light-heartedness, and grit.
