Specialties

With my previous coaching experience, I have found most athlete success in the 5k, 10k, and the mile, though I have also coached a few athletes in a “couch to marathon” training plan. I specialize in the beginners and intermediate athletes. As a former coach but also as a current husband and father of three kids under 10, I understand the grind of working a full-time job and managing a full schedule.

Philosophy

As a coach, I deeply value:

  1. JOY… Above all things in this sport, we must have fun and enjoy it; the athletes that have the most success and meets their goals are the ones who are having fun!
  2. HONESTY… I deeply desire for athletes to be clear on their goals, their limitations, and what is/isn’t working. I will only coach as well as you communicate with me.
  3. INTEGRITY… Trust the process, put in the work, and be transparent with me so I can best help you achieve your goals.
  4. WE’RE ALL STUDENTS… As a coach and as an athlete, we are continually learning about training techniques, strength training, nutrition, and sports psychology; as I continually learn and adapt, be willing to lean in and do what it takes to grow as an athlete.

Coaching Experience

  • 1 year: assistant XC coach, Toccoa Falls College (2013)
  • 2 years: XC / Distance T&F Coach, Danville High School (2022-2024)
  • Trained two athletes, who are friends and had never run before, to marathon finishes.

About Me

I have been married since October 2014 to my amazing wife. I’m a dad of 3 amazing kids (daughter, 9; twin boys, 6). I work full-time as a High School Pastor in Whitestown, IN. All that to say: I know what it’s like to balance the work/family/running schedule.

I also ran 2 years of collegiate XC and had a decently-successful high school XC / T&F career.

Big Influences

My brother was instrumental in my entrance into the sport and is one of the people I learn from. In regards to my training philosophy, I base most of my workouts from Jack Daniels’ Running Formula (though I’ve adjusted some, since watching my high school athletes handle my training plans).

Race History

I’ve run in plenty of road 5ks, slowly dipped into the 10k, did 2 half marathons in high school, and personally found my best success on the track in high school. Some of my personal favorites include:

  • 2023 Boilermaker 5k – Overall Champion
  • 2023 Illinois Marathon 10k – 11th place overall
  • 2022 Zionsville 5k – 3rd overall

Personal Records

  • 1600m: 4:46
  • 5k: 17:03
  • 8k: 29:05
  • 10k (road): 37:46

Great experience working with my running coach Jordan so far. He’s very helpful, adaptable, and always willing to adjust training based on life schedule, fatigue, or injuries. The strength training plans are especially well done, with clear videos and guidance that make everything easy to follow.
The only area for improvement is adapting more smoothly to the VDOT/O2 platform specially adding custom workouts. That said, he is eally proactive learning about the platform and open to feedback. Overall the coaching and support have been excellent!

Great coach and highly recommended to anyone starting or already have a background in running. I’ve been in the military for over 7 years and never had an enjoyable running relationship throughout my time serving. After signing up and having Jordan give me pointers and a good running routine my time has gone down drastically from an 18:30 two mile time down to 17:10! Jordan is very responsive and helps with changing up the running plan to fit my schedule. Highly recommend if anyone needs a running coach
