SPECIALTIES
- I love working with beginner and intermediate runners who run for fun or run to meet their running goals.
- My specialties are: Track & Field Events (sprints, jumps, hurdles, relays) and 5k, 10K, and Half Marathons.
- I also specialize in gait analysis to help runners obtain proper gear and strengthen their running form.
- I also have personal experience coming back from injury to PR’s.
PHILOSOPHY
- I believe you have a reason why you run, so your training plan needs to be unique to you. Running takes time, but consistency and small increases can lead to big improvements.
- Communication with your body and your coach are essential to your success. Oh – and a day or two off, won’t hurt your progress!
- I start runners at their current fitness level and work with them to meet their goals using my background in exercise physiology.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been coaching a total of 5 years (so far). I have coached middle school athletes to adults in distances from the 100 meter dash to the half marathon. I was a part of a State Runner Up team for both cross country and track. I have coached several first time runners in road races who exceeded their goals and expectations.
ABOUT ME
I have a Bachelors of Science in Sport Wellness and a Masters of Education in Secondary Education. I have been a school teacher for 4 years and now I get to coach running full time!
I started running in middle school. I qualified for state in multiple track events all 4 high school years. I finished off my senior year with a personal state championship in the high jump.
I ran track and high jumped for Oklahoma Christian University in the NAIA division.
After a 2 year break from college running, I decided it was time to get back out there but wanted to train for longer distances. I started with 5k’s which led me to run my first half marathon in 2017 and my first full marathon in 2019.
Running brings me so much joy and my hope is that I can bring you inspiration and encouragement throughout your running journey!
BIG INFLUENCES
- My high school track coach, Coach McKinney, encouraged me to run track as a 7th grader. He inspired me, encouraged me and pushed me to always do better than I thought I could.
- In the summers as a high schooler, I went to track camp at Texas Tech University to train with Diane Wholey for high jump and sprints.
- The many things I learned from both of these coaches and their coaching staff I still use today in the way I train and in the way I coach – warms up, cool downs, racing strategies, and mindset.
RACING HISTORY
I have raced nearly every sprinting event (4×100 m relay-4×400 m relay, 100m, 200m, 400m, 100m/300m hurdles) qualifying for state in the 4×100, and the 4×200 3 out of 4 high school years.
After high school and college I have run almost 10+ 5ks, a few 10ks, 4 Half Marathons and 2 Full Marathon with many more to come.
Some of my favorite races to run:
- Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon
- Route 66 Marathon- Tulsa
- BMW Dallas Marathon
