PHILOSOPHY
Not one of my runners have the same training plan. Running is so uniquely beautiful to each athlete that their training plan needs to align with their goals, needs and lifestyle. Some runners benefit from more miles and others more speed. I have seen in both sprints and distance running, consistency and quality win over the big workouts and extra high mileage.
Communication with your body and your coach is essential to your success. As a coach, I often ask “How did that workout feel?” or “How did that pace feel?” so I can better serve my athletes each week. I love getting to know athletes (and meeting up in person as life allows) and cheering for them at races, as they work towards their goals and in their life moments!
COACHING EXPERIENCE
Since I began running, I always knew I wanted to coach running. I started teaching and coaching middle/high school cross country and track in 2018 where I was a part of a Regional Champion Team and State Podium Team. In 2021 I started coaching personal running clients of all ages full time. I have coached athletes of all ages in sprints to the marathon distance, both in person and online. I also coach a local competitive youth track and cross country club team.
I have coached several first time runners in the 5k, half or full marathon. And have enjoyed coaching several athletes in their training for Cooper’s fitness testing for the Armed Forces, FBI or Police Academy (usually a 300m sprint and 1.5mi run). 90% of the athletes I have worked with have passed.
At the middle/high school level, I have coached many state qualifiers, state champions, national medalist, All American athletes, and college scholarship recipients.
I truly love the variety of athletes I work with and am always looking for ways in increase my knowledge and expertise in each thing I coach!
ABOUT ME
I live in the Edmond area with my husband and daughter (new mom as of 2023). In my pervious life I was a school teacher for 4 years before coaching full time! I have a Bachelors of Science in Sport Wellness and a Masters of Education in Secondary Education.
I grew up in West Texas and started running in middle school. I qualified for state in multiple track events all 4 high school years, won state in the high jump my senior year and sprinted and high jumped for Oklahoma Christian University.
After college running, I decided it was time to get back out there but wanted to train for longer distances. I started with 5k’s which led me to run my first half marathon in 2017, then my first full marathon in 2019.
I had a foot injury that caused me to take a year off running in 2020-2021 and also ran as much as I could during my pregnancy in 2023.
Coming back to running after those times away was challenging but so rewarding!
Running and exercise is an important part of the day at our house! Stroller running has become something that fill my cup each mile we go!
I have always loved running for lessons it teaches us. My prayer is running will be as rewarding to your life as it has been to mine.
