Running Coach Description
Running and Strength Training. Smart progressions to help you start safely, improve speed, or get healthy. Performance & longevity.
Specialties
If I had to narrow it down I would say Speed Development, the integration of Strength Training and Plyometrics into running programs, and working with common running injuries. I believe getting faster raises the performance ceiling for any runner or event. I believe that strength training is often overlooked, and is an important aspect for anyone trying to get faster, get or stay healthy, and especially those that are beginning their running journey. If you fit into one or more of those categories then you would be an ideal client for me!

Philosophy
My philosophy revolves around quality and consistency. Quality, smart, training (both the running kind AND the lifting kind) is what allows my athletes to be more consistent, run near peak performance more often, stay fresher, feel good, and greatly reduce the risk of injury. I like to refer to this as “stacking days.” This applies to beginners up to elite runners, as well as athletes of any age. This approach over my career has been very successful in seeing continued improvements in performance.
Coaching Experience
Being a Strength Coach and Sports Therapist is my full time job. I have been coaching for the last 10 years out of my own health and performance studio. Where we offer performance based personal training, post physical therapy programs, and sports therapy for recovery. I have coached athletes and general clientele across numerous sports, advancement levels, injury histories, and ages. I have worked with athletes returning to running and sports in physical therapy clinics and different rehab settings as well.
I hold a MSr in Sports Science and Rehabilitation and a BS in Exercise Science. My education and years on the job have shaped me into what I feel is the best version of a coach I have ever been.
About Me
I view myself as an athlete just as much as i do a coach, and i think that that mix helps me in both areas. I grew up playing all the sports, but eventually settled on track and baseball. During college the injury bug hit hard (yes the classic story), and is what ultimately drove me to explore human movement and sports science as a career. I love and enjoy running, and do 5ks, but i am a sprinter by nature. I have been competing in Masters Track events since i turned 35, the 60m-200m specifically, and i just love the positive environment and camaraderie that’s displayed in the running and track communities. I am a husband, father of 2, and entrepreneur. Outside of training, I love getting outside with my family for evening walks, or trips to the ball field or track. I also enjoy cooking and making pizza!
Big Influences
Presently my kids, and putting off Father Time are my biggest influences. I love watching them “run like daddy” and showing them that we can do hard things, and hard things are worth doing. I never had a coach that’s really stood out as influential to me in my running career. It’s always kind of been about the chase for improvement that influenced me the most. Whether that’s athletically as i age, or for my clients in coaching, or in life etc. I think embracing that ongoing journey is the best way to keep moving forward.
Race History
I have competed in numerous USATF Masters events on the state, regional, and national levels over the past 5 years, both indoor and outdoor. Will compete in more this year and the coming years. I have completed half marathons and everything in between. The most important is always the next one though, and the chance to connect with those communities.
