Running Coach Description

I am Coach Lauren, a Brooklyn-based RRCA Certified Run Coach, ISSA Certified Nutrition Coach and ISSA Strength and Conditioning Specialist and proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community.

I founded Wayfinder Running Co. because I wanted to create the kind of coaching environment I wish more people had access to: inclusive, affirming, judgement-free, and built around the person rather than the traditional expectations of what a “runner”, “athlete” or “fit person” is supposed to look like.

I know what it feels like to feel different. But I’ve also learned that being different can become one of your greatest strengths. It builds resiliency, self-awareness, and the determination to keep moving forward when things get hard.

That’s what I want to help you build through running, not just physical strength, but confidence in yourself and what you’re capable of.

What you can expect:

  • Personalized 1:1 virtual run coaching designed around your goals, experience, schedule, and life.
  • Training that fits your life whether you prefer running outdoors, at home, or in a gym.
  • Structured training for beginner and returning runners, as well as runners who feel stuck or aren’t seeing the progress they want.
  • A coaching relationship built around consistency and progress without burnout.
  • A coach who meets you where you are without judgment.
  • LGBTQ+ affirming coaching where you never have to worry about fitting a particular mold.

Whether you’re lacing up for the first time, returning to running after time away, trying to build the confidence to step into a gym, or looking to take your running to the next level, you don’t have to figure it out alone. If you’re ready to elevate your training or just feel like you belong out there, let’s build something that lasts, together.

Philosophy

Running is a lifelong journey built on self-trust, resiliency, and consistency. My coaching philosophy centers on meeting athletes exactly where they are and creating a supportive, affirming environment where they can grow with confidence. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I know what it feels like to not fit the mold and I believe that feeling different can become a source of strength. Every runner has a unique starting point and success looks different for everyone.

My coaching approach focuses on:

  • Meeting you where you are: No judgment about your pace, your past, or how many times you’ve had to start over. Every journey begins somewhere and you belong here.
  • Creating individualized structure: Training plans built around your goals, experience, and life, whether you train outdoors, at home, or in a gym. No one-size-fits-all approach.
  • Building confidence through consistency: You don’t have to figure it all out alone. I’ll guide you through the challenges, celebrate your progress, and help you recognize the runner you already are.

My goal is not just to help you complete a workout or cross a finish line, but to help you become a stronger, more confident athlete along the way.

Coaching Experience

My coaching experience began as a volunteer guide with Achilles International supporting athletes with disabilities in their running journeys. This experience taught me the importance of clear communication, adaptability, and meeting each athlete where they are.

I have worked 1-on-1 with runners of varying abilities and experience levels, helping athletes build confidence, stay motivated, and pursue their personal goals. Today, I bring that same athlete-centered approach to coaching adult runners, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community who haven’t always felt welcome in running or fitness spaces. I work with athletes from beginners through half marathoners, focusing on consistency, confidence, and sustainable progress.

About Me

I’m a Brooklyn-based lifelong runner, RRCA Certified Run Coach, ISSA Certified Nutrition Coach, and ISSA Strength and Conditioning Specialist who believes running is about so much more than crossing a finish line. I’m proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community and I know what it feels like to not always feel like you belong in running and fitness spaces. My own journey has taught me the value of consistency, patience, and finding an approach that integrates into real life. It has taught me that feeling different can become one of your greatest strengths.

Outside of coaching, I have a background in corporate finance and banking, which taught me to value structure, follow-through, and balancing demanding work with everything else in life. I bring that same dependability to my coaching, so you always know what to expect from me and where you stand. I’m passionate about living a healthy lifestyle through running, strength training, and fueling my body, and I want to help you build a version of that which feels good to you.

When I’m not coaching or running, you’ll usually find me spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, or experimenting in the kitchen.
