SPECIALTIES

Creating personalized training plans based on each individual’s past running history, current fitness and future goals. I believe having a good balance of rest and recovery is vital to staying healthy and happy on the run. Thus, I work with my athletes to incorporate a combination of easy runs, workouts, long runs (if applicable), strength training sessions, rest days and mobility.
I have the most experience in training beginning and intermediate runners to reach their 5K to marathon goals.

There are certain runners in particular that I love working with including:

  1. Runners who have never run before or are just starting. I’m confident in my ability to give you a training plan that is fun, fitness appropriate and will (hopefully!) help you fall in love with running.
  2. Runners who have limited time or work unusual schedules.
  3. Runners who are looking for a coach who is positive, flexible and knowledgeable
  4. Runners who want to work with their coach to create a plan that works for them. I’ve found that my runners who have been most successful are those who communicate what is working on the plan and what isn’t. Of course, I always give my feedback.
  5. Runners who have goals, but also just want to have fun and challenge themselves 🙂

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is that running and having a running coach is for everyone. Whether you want to break 30 minutes in a 5K or 3 hours in the marathon you are worthy of having a coach to guide you along to hitting your big goals. As a coach I believe that running should be fun, and that the moment it becomes something we have to do, it is time to adjust the plan.

I have experience in creating flexible training plans that work with your personal schedule. In addition, I acknowledge that what each person wants from their running schedule is different. Some runners want to run 6 days a week and for others 3 days a week is what makes them happiest. I love working with runners to achieve their goals in the schedule that works for them individually.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been coaching with Team Run Run for over a year now. I have my running coach certification through UESCA. I have been a runner since I was 8 years old and have been surrounded by excellent coaches who have inspired me to always put the runner first, be an encouragement, and stay in frequent communication with my athletes to help them best achieve their running goals.

ABOUT ME

I am a Wisconsin girl! While I hate the winters, the rest of the seasons are very nice. Winter running also builds character, at least that is what I tell myself. I live with my husband and sweet dog, Madi. I graduated from UW-Madison and love going to badger football and basketball games.

I currently work as an internal medicine nurse practitioner.

Other than running, I love hiking, kayaking, and long walks with our dog. My favorite pre-race meal is pasta-plain and simple, a little EVOO, garlic salt and mozzarella cheese. YUM!

BIG INFLUENCES

Molly Seidel! I too went to a small school in southeastern Wisconsin and we actually raced against each other for 2 years in highschool cross country. I love her honesty and humor on social media.

It is also hard to not love Kara Goucher after reading her book and following her. One of my favorite quotes from her is “One of life’s biggest lessons-you don’t always get what you want. You can still do everything right, and still fall short. But usually, even in the pain, the journey was still worth taking.”

RACING HISTORY

My fondest racing memories come from high school cross country. I went to a small school in Wisconsin and my freshman year we only had 5 girls. Exactly enough to field a full competitive team. Against what anyone expected of us we made it to state as a team. More than 10 years later that is still my favorite running memory. After high school I started to run recreationally. I did a few half marathons and ran my first marathon in 2016. The Green Bay Cellcom Marathon. Since then I’ve run 3 more marathons and numerous half marathons.

In 2019 I had my hardest training cycle yet in preparation for the Lakefront Marathon. It was hot and humid. I felt good through 13.1 and then the train went off the tracks. I had to drop out at mile 25. I know the heartache in a DNF, but I also know the power that is the comeback.
The most fun run I have completed yet- Chicago Shamrock Shuffle!

Lauren has been coaching my daughter between her cross-country and track seasons. She is very knowledgeable, kind, and motivational. She does a great job keeping in touch, putting together plans, and being flexible as our schedules shift. Highly recommended!

Lauren is such a wonderful coach! She is meticulous with her training plan tailored to your goals, she is available for questions and feedback, she is approachable and extremely supportive, and she cares about you! The plan she wrote for me has a lot of variety to keep it fun, but more importantly it is effective. I saw a huge improvement in my running because of Lauren. She’s awesome!!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Lauren!!! I was introduced to her by a mutual friend and I’m so grateful for the connection. I was signed up for my second marathon and looking for a plan that was the perfect amount of challenging to help me achieve my goals. I wasn’t finding something I loved, so when I connected with Lauren I just knew she was the coach for me! Lauren and I clicked immediately. She’s so easy to talk to, encouraging, and always there to cheer me on virtually or answer any type of running questions I may have. I have been LOVING the plan she’s creating for me. It’s truly challenged me and I cannot wait for race day to put myself and my training to the test. Lauren is a coach that feels like a friend! She’s all about listening to your body and rearranging a run when needed. I appreciate her approach and science-based view on training. I look forward to many more marathon cycles learning from and being coached by Lauren!

I came across Lauren as a running coach in a large running Facebook group we both happened to be a part of. I’d never had a running coach before, but had been considering the option and decided to reach out. Lauren has been SO helpful in many different facets! Not only has she written me a successful plan, but she’s been available for all of my questions (and I tended to have a lot), has been motivating, and understanding when life would ‘happen’ and I had to adjust my plan a bit. She believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself!
