Philosophy
My coaching philosophy blends smart, sustainable training with clear, consistent communication so every runner from beginners to performance‑driven athletes feels supported and informed throughout their journey. I focus on effort‑based pacing, strength and mobility, and safe progression to build confidence, durability, and long‑term growth. Whether an athlete is training for their first 5K, chasing a marathon PR, or exploring the trails, I prioritize open communication and individualized adjustments that help athletes understand each phase of their plan, stay motivated, and arrive at the start line strong, prepared, and confident.
I believe beginners thrive when training feels achievable, the “why” behind each workout is clear, and adjustments are made as life happens. Every fitness program begins and builds on taking that first step. With effort‑based pacing, safe progression, and steady guidance, I help new runners build confidence, stay motivated, and celebrate every milestone with support they can count on.
Coaching Experience
I’ve had the opportunity to work with runners across all levels, from beginners training to meet work qualifications, i.e. FBI to athletes chasing stronger, faster race performances. As an RRCA‑certified coach with a foundation in strength and mobility, I’ve helped runners build confidence, consistency, and durability through smart progression and clear communication. Whether guiding someone through their first 5K or preparing an athlete for a peak marathon or trail effort, my coaching emphasizes purposeful training, individualized adjustments, and steady support that keeps runners healthy, motivated, and connected to their goals.
One thing I have learned through coaching is that athletes who stayed focused, consistent and open to communication got the most out of their training. When we work together, we can adapt your training to fit your needs and set you up for success.
Athletes I’ve coached have succeeded at reaching or exceeding their goals and developed a healthy running relationship.
About Me
It’s been said that I was born running. As a young girl, I always ran to catch the Sunday School bus, ran to school, the local rec center and swimming pool. I raced the boys on the playground in elementary school, and as I got older, lettered in high school track and soccer and ran track in college. Truth is, I simply love to run and do hard things and have challenged myself by exploring, hiking, triathlons and cross-country skiing.
While in the Air Force serving in Southern Italy, my friends and I set our minds on running up Mount Aetna. Truth be told, we made it about half way before the tour bus caught up with us. My free time overseas was spent running wherever I could, around the base, the golf course path, or on local roads near olive tree farms.
To me, running is enjoying the outdoors, being alive, self-discovery and beginning each day on the ‘right foot.’
I’m a wife, mother and have held a long term career in information and cybersecurity juggling parenthood, career and fitness. I truly understand that journey and love how it has influenced me.
At the end of each race, I’m known to run back on the course to cheer on others or run to the finish line with those seeking an extra push.
I’m excited to join TRR as an RRCA-certified running coach. I’m passionate about running, health and wellness and really love coaching. And I’m eager to assist you with achieving your running goals.
Big Influences
I’ve been fortunate to have an amazing coach that owns a local running store. He has been my biggest influence in long distance running and coaching. I also drew influence from greats like Steve Prefontaine and had to the opportunity to complete a race in Hayward Field last spring. Deena Kastor is another great that inspires me through her dedication and passion.
My son-in-law inspires me a great deal too. He lives with MS and several years ago, he told me he wanted to train for and run a marathon. His dedication in training and success in completing the marathon is evidence to me that when it comes to running, a solid foundation and consistency in training are key to success.
Race History
My “racing” history speaks to how much I love running and sharing that love of running with others. As an adult runner, my original goal was to complete a marathon before I reached 40 and met that goal by completing the Chicago Marathon where I met a runner who had just completed his 50th State. I was in awe of his accomplishment but didn’t realize I, too, had been bitten by the marathon bug. Since then, I have run two 50k ultra marathons placing first at my second ultra distance, 42 marathons including Boston and more than 100 half marathons. As an athlete, I coached myself to four Boston qualifiers and ran Boston twice. I also participate in countless local 5ks, 10ks and sprint triathlons, trail races and endurance multi-day relay races (Hood-to-Coast), Mainly Marathons and the River to River Relay (RRR).
My long term goal is to run a full or half marathon in all 50 states. In August 2025, I completed the Sydney Marathon and achieved my 7th World Marathon Major (WMM) medal and hope to complete the Capetown marathon in May 2027 for my 8th WMM.
