Description

Hi there! I’m a middle-of-the-pack runner with a deep passion for the sport and a commitment to helping others reach their potential. While I may not be winning races, I understand the challenges, triumphs, and frustrations that come with training and racing — and that’s why I’m so passionate about coaching. I know what it feels like to push through those tough moments, and what it feels like to take a victory lap, and I’m here to help others do the same in a way that’s relatable and supportive. I am a lifelong student of the sport, always seeking to grow and improve as a coach. I’m constantly reading, learning, and educating myself to provide the best guidance possible. For me, coaching is about more than just teaching my athletes about the science of running (though that is a huge part!); it’s about building a community where athletes feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to achieve their goals. Whether you’re just starting out or training for your next big race, I’m here to help you discover your full potential and enjoy the journey along the way.

What I offer my athletes:

  • Individualized weekly coaching accessible worldwide
  • A structured supplemental strength program to complement your running goals (if desired)
  • Access to a training platform (VDOT) that syncs with running watches to track your progress and milestones
  • Open and unlimited communication via text, facetime, phone, and your running platform app
  • Advice on race nutrition, course strategy analysis, and gear tips — plus one page briefs for key goal races
  • Mental performance tips to help you run your strongest race

  • TRR community access – including discounted swag, nutrition, and gear, community runs (including big marathon weekend shakeout runs), book clubs, discounted race entries, and more!

SPECIALTIES

I specialize in helping new and middle of the pack runners reach their full potential with a focus on injury prevention, smart training, and sustainable progress. My coaching style centers around open, strong communication with each athlete, ensuring a tailored approach that adapts to your unique needs. I understand that every day brings its own challenges and adjustments, and I’m committed to guiding you through them with a flexible plan that prioritizes your well-being.

Here are a few reasons we might make a great fit:

  • You want more than “just” a personalized training plan – you’re looking for a cheerleader, confidante, and an educator to be alongside you in your running journey
  • You want regular feedback and communication to discuss your progress and goals
  • You’re new to running and feel it is inaccessible to you – but you have lofty dreams and big goals
  • You like running – but sometimes you find yourself bored and unengaged, and want new ways to spice things up
  • You are a former athlete – sport has always come easy to you – but running feels oddly hard
  • You have been breaking into the sport for a little while, but you feel that you can’t relate to other runners
  • You are looking for help building your confidence, mental resiliency, and strength
  • You’ve worked with a coach in the past and you’ve felt like you’re “bothering” them with too many questions or by challenging their philosophy – in my cohort, we’re all about open dialogue!
  • You understand 90% of the general science of running, but hope to get a more granular understanding of the last 10%

PHILOSOPHY

Running is not just about becoming faster or stronger—it’s about cultivating a mindset of perseverance, patience, and joy. It teaches us that real success is not measured by any single moment, but by the cumulative impact of our consistent efforts. This has led me to root all of my coaching in 4 key principles: run intentionally, run consistently, run honestly, and run with joy.

  1. The Power of Intentional Training: Every step, every stride, every mile, represents the effort you invest. There are no shortcuts to success in running. The path to improvement is paved with determination and relentless hard, smart, and measured work. Each run has a purpose (believe it or not, the purpose rarely ever has to do with pace!) – and running to intentionally fulfill that purpose is where the magic happens.
  2. Consistency: Like laying one brick at a time to build a strong structure, every run is a small yet vital step toward becoming a better version of yourself. The key to long-term success is consistency—which often requires deliberate decisions to make the long term habit sustainable. Small wins, compounded over time, create lasting transformation.
  3. Honesty: Running demands honesty—honesty in assessing your physical limits, your progress, and your intentions. Being truthful with yourself allows for authentic growth, improvement, and self-discovery. Through honesty, you will learn to accept both your strengths and limitations, which allows you to chart a more sustainable and effective course.
  4. Embracing the Joy of the Process: Running isn’t just about the destination—be it a race, a personal best, or a goal you’ve set. It’s about finding joy in the journey, the rhythm of your footsteps, the air in your lungs, and the mental clarity that comes with the discipline.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

Over the past 2 years, I coached my husband from couch to marathon and kept him healthy, uninjured, and most importantly – inspired – throughout a long build. Recently, I also coached a close friend of mine to run his first marathon (a resounding sub 4 race!) in Toronto. I’m constantly providing my friends and family with advice on how to start their running journey, and for those who have already started, how to take it to the next level. I coach all types of athletes and have provided guidance to many in unique circumstances, including those looking to returning to run after an injury or setback, brand new runners and run-walkers, post-partum runners, and masters-category runners.

ABOUT ME

When I’m not coaching, my husband and I are always on the hunt for our next favorite restaurant or coffee shop. Second to dogs, I love iguanas. When I’m not on the run, you can find me in the gym working on pull-ups, pistol squats, and other eccentric movement patterns. I also work in state government affairs – so a huge part of my job means that I’m traveling across the country which has afforded me the opportunity to run in many exciting different places and state capitals! If you’re in my next travel city, let’s meet up for a jog!

BIG INFLUENCES

Des Linden and Sifan Hassan have my heart for their unwavering commitment to keeping the sport fun, unbelievably gritty, and genuine with where running fits in within their evolving lives.

RACING HISTORY

I’m a frequent flyer at the half marathon distance, having over 20 official half marathons under my belt. As it’s my favorite distance, I’ve really enjoyed racing the Staten Island Half Marathon each year – a very underrated race!

The NYC Marathon has a special place in my heart (as it was my first marathon) and I have long-term goals to complete at least 15 in my lifetime. I’ve also run smaller scale races, like the scenic and tranquil P’tit Train du Nord Marathon in Quebec.

Some of my other favorite races include the Brooklyn Mile, Fifth Avenue Mile, The ACLI Capital Challenge, and the Bronx 10 Miler!

My son and I have both had the chance to train with Martina, and it’s been such a positive experience. Martina has a great way of mixing technical knowledge with practical advice that actually works.

The in-person sessions with my son made a huge difference—his speed and endurance have improved so much, and he’s more confident in his running now. For me, the clear guidance and thoughtful tips have helped me understand how to train smarter, not just harder.

What stands out most is how supportive and encouraging Martina is. You can tell she genuinely care about helping you improve and enjoy the process. We’re really grateful for the progress we’ve made and for having such a knowledgeable and kind coach by our side.

Martina is exactly the coach I was looking for! She has been helping me improve my running performance not only through an effective training method but also by focusing on the mental side and sharing her 360° knowledge. Martina keeps me motivated with both short-term and long-term goals, making the journey enjoyable and sustainable. I’m grateful for her guidance and will definitely keep training with her!

I signed up for the New York City marathon having never completed a marathon and with little running experience. I immediately knew I needed to find a running coach who could not only train me physically but also mentally. I was fortunate enough to find Martina, and now four months later, I am still in awe of my progress thanks to her.
Unlike other training plans I have seen, Martina releases your workouts week by week, which for me, made task of training less daunting. She explained by only seeing what you have to do for the week, you are less likely to get overwhelmed. Through her training I have not only built physical strength but mental toughness as well.
Martina’s style of coaching is personal and approachable. She is always available to answer my questions, help make adjustments to my plan or just let me rant, and give me a confidence boost when I need it.
If you are looking for a coach who not only trains you physically but mentally an emotionally, look no further than Martina!

I couldn’t have been luckier to find Martina.

I’m a beginner, and when we started working together at the end of February, I was doing a 2:1 run-walk. Just a few months later, in May, I ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon—safely and with energy all the way to the finish line, on a warm and humid day. Now, we’re training for the NYC Marathon in November.

Martina is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and responsive. She checks in with me after every workout, always takes the time to listen to my concerns, and helps me find the best path forward—both physically and mentally. Her guidance on training, nutrition, hydration, and mindset has made this journey achievable and genuinely enjoyable.

I’m deeply grateful, thankful and I am learning a lot. I can’t describe the satisfaction I feel when I rise to a challenge she sets and see how both my body and mind respond. This experience has been truly transformative, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without her. I couldn’t recommend Coach Martina enough.

Coach Martina is AMAZING!!! I am a VERY beginner runner with a lot of conflicting health issues and she has been so incredibly flexible, understanding, and strikes a balance between being encouraging while also recognizing limits. She has been really so great, especially as a slow runner, and always supportive of my pace even if it is 17 min/mile.

For anyone doubting working with Coach Martina, don’t! She really is so fantastic and I couldn’t recommend her enough.

Working with Coach Martina has been an absolute game-changer. From day one, she has been incredibly communicative—responding after every run with thoughtful feedback, encouragement, and guidance. Her consistent check-ins kept me accountable and motivated throughout the entire journey.

One of the things I appreciated most was how she customized my training plan around my hectic schedule. If I ever needed to adjust a workout or shift things around, she was flexible and quick to make changes that still kept me on track.

Martina didn’t just give me a plan—she coached me through every part of the process, including fuel and nutrition strategies, which were completely new to me. Thanks to her support, I went from zero running experience to completing a half marathon in a very short amount of time—something I honestly didn’t think was possible.

If you’re looking for a coach who is responsive, knowledgeable, and truly invested in your success, Martina is the one. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

Martina is the absolute best!! She is so incredibly passionate about running and it is contagious through her coaching style — I feel that her main goal is to help you find joy in your running journey while supporting you to achieve your peak performance. She has been through a lot of the same running ups and downs that many runners go through (great days, injuries, tough races, and everything in between), and so I feel that when she gives me advice, it truly comes from a place of empathy and compassion having known she has been in my shoes before. From my first day of working with her, I have been so impressed by how communicative she is — with setting my workout plan weekly, checking in after every workout/run, and providing thorough explanations about any questions I have (especially when it comes to me and my injury-proneness — she listens to lots of podcasts and reads books that make her incredibly knowledgeable about the human body!). I’ve been dealing with a niggle and she provided workout modifications, strength exercises, and nutrition to help it heal faster, as well as guidance to pain thresholds for modifying / stopping activity. Speaking of my injury-proneness, I love that she also provides strength workouts in my weekly plans and they are already helping me feel stronger and more powerful in my running. She also has been very helpful with planning out races around my A goal race and is very realistic while still supportive. After the races I have run with her so far, she has been so encouraging and positive about my performances and how she can really see me getting to the next level! I truly have nothing but great things to say about Martina and I can’t recommend her enough.

I have been working with Martina for just about 2 months but have known her for much longer. I have worked with other coaches before but since switching to working with Martina – I have fallen back in love with running.

Being a first time mom and just hitting 1 year postpartum – it has been hard getting back into the swing of running. But Martina has helped me through all the highs and lows.

She puts together thoughtful and individualized programming each week, listens to your needs and helps you adjust as needed and takes into account what is going on in your life. She also cares tremendously for her clients and truly wants her runners to succeed – whether it’s in a race or just a workout.

I will absolutely recommend Martina to all those who are looking for coaches. The hands on experience and support is unmatched

How much do I enjoy working with Martina? Let me count the ways!
Even before we started “officially” working together, which was right before a 1/2 marathon, she texted me in the morning to wish me luck and cheer me on. That solidified my confidence that I was working with the right coach for me. She is super communicative, proactive and enthusiastic.

Communication: she checks in with me often, especially post work-outs to see how things are going, how I’m recovering. She even checks the weather to accommodate my selectiveness on when I want to run :D. We text and chat about training and is science based, so when I ask for the whys, she has the answers. She’s patient and gracious in our dialogues, understanding that I am trying to learn. She meets me where I am, meaning whether it’s text or via the run app, she is available and will respond accordingly.

Proactiveness: I’m now running my 2nd 1/2 this weekend, in a much warmer climate. I haven’t had time to focus on the actual race but without my asking: she reached out to discuss my goal, fuel strategy, etc and provided suggestions and we talked through them. She even looked up the race course and climate so I can be well-prepared! and not just via text messages, she followed up with a detailed email laying everything out in one place so I’m not digging through messages to piece together my plan. *insert heart emoji*

Enthusiastic: she’s truly engaged and I feel like she’s with me every step of the way despite us being on opposite coasts of the country! I feel seen, heard, and supported. Our interactions are always positive and genuine. I cannot wait to work with her as I train for marathon later this fall.

Working with Martina has been an absolutely incredible experience. I was referred to her by a friend who raved about her coaching, and now I understand why. This is my first time working with a running coach, and the experience has far exceeded my expectations.

From day one, Martina has been nothing short of amazing. She’s always available, incredibly positive, and knows exactly what to say when I need encouragement. Even though I’ve only been working with her for a little over a month, I already feel stronger—physically and mentally. After relying on AI running plans for over a year, I came to Martina feeling broken and frustrated. She’s helped me recover from injuries and build back smarter and stronger.

More than just a coach, Martina feels like a friend—someone who genuinely cares and loves to talk running just as much as I do. Her support has made all the difference.

If you’re looking to push yourself as a runner or simply want to find more joy and sustainability in your running journey, I can’t recommend Martina enough. She’s the real deal.

Martina is such a great coach! I’ve been working with her for a little over two months and have gained SO much confidence in this time. She is super responsive and able to adjust quickly to any changes you may need, constantly checks in after all workouts to make sure you’re feeling good, and provides so much encouragement to keep you motivated! She does a great job of explaining why she programs each workout and their function. She took the time to look up a half-marathon I am signed up for to check the elevation and course map and made a game plan for the race way in advance, which I think is incredibly helpful! I’m confident that I’m going to keep growing as a runner thanks to Martina and look forward to working with her towards my goal race of the year – the New York City Marathon!

Martina is simply the best. I’ve been using the TRR platform for a year, and about 10 months in, learned my coach would be stepping away. I was beyond devastated, but then I found Martina. I’ve been working with her a little over two months and I’ve progressed so much in such a short time. She stepped in as my new coach at the end of a 5k training cycle earlier this year, and stepped up right when I needed her the most. She gave me a plan of attack and a huge boost of confidence before a big race, even though we had just started working together. She cheered me on the entire way and was over the moon when I crushed my goal by a lot. Her approach is incredible, she’s very communicative, which was very important for me in a coach. She is extremely adaptable, caring and understands that running isn’t my entire life. I have a full time job, a young son and lots of responsibilities. Within the first 3 weeks working together, she coached me into a reasonable, realistic approach to a half marathon since we didn’t have a full training cycle together. I also was able to crush that goal in the short time together. Martina gives me strength workouts specific to running, easy runs, long runs and quality speed/interval sessions. She really understands and cares about the science of running, effects on my body, and prioritizes recovery. We are working through a few shorter races this spring/summer and she will be coaching me for the Chicago Marathon in the Fall. In just the last two months, I feel like I’ve gained so much confidence and speed that I’m thrilled to see how much I progress throughout the year. You will not be disappointed if you choose Martina as your running coach. She truly goes above and beyond as a coach & is an absolute gem. She carefully plans your week and is always checking in on how you are feeling and prioritizes your feedback and adjusts the plan accordingly. I know I can reach out at any moment and ask a question and I know I will get the most honest feedback. She also helps me choose races, structures our training based on elevation, time of year, aid stations and all the factors to make sure we get it right. Finding your person can be hard, but I promise you will not regret Martina as your coach!

Martina has been my coach since 2023 and have not looked back since. I started off as a casual runner but as my goals became loftier, I needed guidance. Since working with her, I’ve ran three official half-marathons, and a full one to which she coached me to a sub-4 hour time — something I never thought would be possible.

One thing that really sets her apart is how she treats her clients like family. She isn’t just a coach — she will become your biggest support and cheerleader. She really cares about those she is helping.

Working with Martina has truly been a life-altering experience. Words cannot describe how much I recommend hiring her!

I’ve been working with Martina since 2023, and I can honestly say it has been a life changing experience. I’m a heavier guy who only started running two years ago, and the progress I’ve made since then has been incredible. Thanks to her coaching strategy, I’ve managed to go from zero running experience to completing the NYC marathon, all while maintaining running fitness without experiencing ANY injuries—something I was most concerned about when I first started.

What sets her apart is not just her knowledge of running, but how well she understands the unique challenges that come with being a beginner runner, especially one that’s on the heavier side. She tailored training to my specific needs, focusing on form, recovery, and gradual progress, which has made all the difference. All this while being super accessible over text, email, phone, etc. I always feel challenged but never overwhelmed, and the injury-free streak is proof that her approach works.

Each training session is well-structured and catered to my work, life and race schedule. Any advice I’ve received—whether it’s about pacing, nutrition, gear or strength training—has helped me become a more confident and consistent runner.

If you’re looking for a coach who will not only help you hit your goals but also make sure you do it safely and sustainably, Martina is the answer.
