PHILOSOPHY
As a physical therapy student, I understand the importance of a scientific and evidence-based approach to health and movement. As a competitive runner, I also understand the intersection of physical and mental performance in racing. Pulling together my various experiences, I can meet you wherever you are and work with you to achieve your goals. From the start line of your first 5k to qualifying for Boston or toeing the start line at Western States, I will help guide you with research based training and strategy to cross the finish line with a new PR.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
2 years as a High school Track and Field coach, working with all disciplines. I coached multiple state championship qualifiers and a state championship finalist. Most importantly, I helped improve personal bests for all athletes I have directly worked with.
ABOUT ME
I am a math nerd turned Physical Therapist student and love applying data and research to help you reach your goals- whether you’re coming back from injury or improving your times and fitness. I competed in track and field at Gettysburg College and I was the Captain of the team my senior year. At Gettysburg I competed in high jump, 400m, 800m, and even stepped up to run a season of cross country. I am a very versatile athlete and coach and I love learning new things. We will always be utilizing the most recent research and trying new things.
BIG INFLUENCES
Steve Magness- author of Do Hard Things and Win the Inside Game and a great runner: I love his approach to mental performance and he has great insights in how to apply psychological and physical research to real life and running
David and Megan Roche- Some Work All Play: Love their approach to running and science and their atmosphere of acceptance, greatness, and all fun
Jason Fitzgerald- host of The Strength Running Podcast: he has great insights into training and highlights the nuances of training for pros and amateurs alike
The rest of my high school coaching team and my past coaches at Gettysburg College: Incredibly grateful to have been able to learn from these coaches and see different and successful approaches that I am able to combine into my own practice
RACING HISTORY
I raced occasionally throughout high school with an 800m PR of 2:08 and High Jump PR of 5′ 6″. I then walked onto the Gettysburg Team and competed for 4 years with a 400m PR of 51.2, 800m PR of 2:02, and High Jump PR of 5′ 11″. I dealt with a recurrent hamstring injury and the Covid-19 pandemic throughout my college career. After college I took a year off of running due to a negative relationship with the sport following my injuries and missing seasons. I returned to the sport with marathon training and have fallen back in love with every aspect of training.
