Specialties

Currently, I specialize in races from 5Ks to half marathons. Historically, I specialized in the 100 m hurdles, the 300 m hurdles, the 400 m hurdles, the 4 x 400 m, the 4 x 800 m and the heptathlon. I also have 10+ years of experience in gymnastics, so I have a strong foundation in strength training and muscle care.

I would like to work with people who either have little-to-no experience running or runners at an intermediate level. I want to help beginners get into running, run their first race and/or develop a habit of running—a couch to 5K type of program. For more experienced runners, I can create individualized plans geared toward improving their race times.

Philosophy

I believe one of the main contributors to success as a runner is dedication. I hope to help athletes remain dedicated by working with them one-on-one to create an individualized running plan that considers all of life’s challenges, including stress, motivation, family, injury, illness, nutrition, etc. The athlete and I will work together to create and modify a plan based on their feedback to ensure that they reach their running goals.

Coaching Experience

My coaching experience is based in gymnastics; I coached elementary- to high school-aged gymnasts in levels 1-6 at clubs over the course of three years.

About Me

While I did XC in both high school and college, and while I do road races now, I love track most of all. In addition to running, I like to read and sing. I speak French and enjoy traveling—I love exploring new cities by running.

Big Influences

First, I think a variety of workouts keeps running interesting. I enjoy utilizing fartleks, tempos, intervals, long runs, easy runs, track workouts, etc., and I enjoy testing out new workouts. Variety also includes running in various settings, such as bike paths, rural roads, city running, trails, etc.—the more you can change up the scenery while you’re running, the better. Second, I think having a community of runners keeps individuals motivated. I encourage athletes to join running clubs in their area and/or find a buddy to run with.

Race History

I loved racing the 4 x 400 in high school—the event has such high energy, and with it being the last race of the meet, everyone is cheering you on, so they can go home faster! I remember at the conference meet one year, I was the anchor leg and a girl on another team was neck and neck with me at the 100 m mark. She said “Let’s go!” because the team that was in the lead for points was behind us and she wanted to make sure she didn’t pass either her or myself—and I don’t think she did!

I also raced during a XC season in France after college. At one race, I was in the lead for the women and as I was running the course, I kept hearing “The first woman!” That was really encouraging.

Another cool racing experience was my first half marathon—I started out very conservatively, which meant I had a lot left in the tank at the end of the race. I was able to pass a ton of people in the last mile, which only encouraged me to run even faster.
