Specialties

I specialize in coaching everyone from youth runners all the way to senior athletes. I’ve been around the block enough times and seen it all; whether you’re doing your very first “Couch to 5K” program or looking to dip under 2:30 in the marathon, my training plan will be designed specifically just for you to help you achieve your goals and be the very best version of yourself that you can be!

Philosophy

My goal for each of my clients is to build and create a plan that works within their lifestyle. As a current father of two (ages 5 & 2) with #3 on the way in January, I know first-hand how exhausting training can be after a full days work +parenting duties. With every client I work with, I promise to provide you the following:

  1. A truly customized and flexible plan that is uniquely yours. This will be a combination of science as well as a holistic approach where you will have a large say as to what your doing. I will then take your goals and, with your help, create a plan that not only gets you fitter, but allows you to have fun with the process!
  2. Mental Strengthening and Coaching: While physical fitness and improvement is extremely important, I know all too well that the muscle that requires the most training for distance races is the mind. Our meetings will consist of updates (as much as you’d like to share) about where you’re at mentally with life and training; and I will provide adjustments as we go along this journey together.
  3. Steadfast Communication: I am quick to the draw on responses and will usually get back to your with general training questions within 10-12 hours; and essentially/immediate responses within the hour.
  4. In-Person Meetings (for those nearby and who request them): As someone in the Chicagoland area, I have no problem traveling up to an hour to meet in-person for check-ins. We can also go for runs and grab some coffee as well, any and all paces are welcome 🙂

Coaching Experience

I have been coaching athletes for close to 15 years; ranging from personalized 1-on-1 coaching to large groups of 50+ people. I have also coached for several years in Division 3 for both men & women, and have even coached pregnant/post-partum women back from pregnancy to new personal records. I have a USATF Level 1 Certification in Coaching Cross Country/Track & Field and am constantly staying up-to-date on new coaching science and philosophies.

About Me

I am 33 years old and have been running for over 20+ years. I developed asthma at an early age and was told that exercise would be a great way to help strengthen my lungs. After a few runs I got my first “runner’s high” on a 1 mile run, and the rest was history. I live with my wife & 3 children in the Chicagoland suburbs. I have had the privilege of running the Boston Marathon, Chicago Marathon, Disney Marathon and many other races ranging from a beer miles to elimination pace/distance races.

I am currently training for the Dopey Challenge in Disney as well as the USA National Triathlon Championships in 2026, so if we partner together, you’re going to have a coach who is in the thick of it with you! My main goal is a coach is to help provide you with a lifestyle and set of tools that will benefit you for the rest of your running/exercise focused career.

Big Influences

Al Carius (Coach of the Century Award Winner & my previous College Coach)

I base a lot of my foundation for coaching around Al and his philosophy, and his quote below summarizes my viewpoints on coaching:

“I’d like to be remembered for what I did for people on an individual basis,” he said. “I hope they will look back and think of something I did to make a positive impact on their lives, not just lead them to medals. It’s not about whether they won, it’s about what they became through the process.”
