Running Coach Description

As a Physical Therapy student based in Atlanta, I look at running through a prehab/rehab lens. To ensure that the injury bug stays out of your way, I use evidenced-based formulas to emphasize proper running load dosage that prevents overtraining while also challenging your muscular and cardiovascular endurance. I also offer holistic strength and conditioning programs that are tailored to each individual and focused on improving running mechanics and enhancing power output. Having worked in the PT setting, specialize in helping new runners chase their dreams at any level. One of my biggest passions and motivations is making exercise more feasible and accessible for my community, and I can’t wait to be part of the culture to change that!

Specialties

I specialize in mid-to-long distance running at the beginner-medium running level, ranging from the 1 mile to half marathon distances. I also offer strength training regimens that coincide with your specific running goals and build your muscles to handle the load of distance running. As a student physical therapist, I also offer a variety of evidence-based coaching in the post-injury and injury prevention realms. If you are wanting marathon focused training, I do not specialize in that area but am looking at getting involved as that is my next race distance goal as an athlete.

Philosophy

As a current physical therapy student and degree holder in Exercise Science, I view running from a lens that highlights injury prevention, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and nutrition. Using this educational background and current research, I will not only provide evidence-based training regimens but also educational pieces to promote client autonomy and understanding of the physiology of running.

I also believe that running is just like any other skill: to get better, you have to do it consistently. In order to achieve client’s goals, I use motor learning principles and modifications to develop the foundations required to grow. I play off of the strengths of my clients to boost their confidence while providing focus on improving aerobic base, running mechanics, fueling, and managing exercise dosage through a variety of avenues.

Coaching Experience

I have served as a personal coach for collegiate athletes who competed at the Division III level as well as amateur/weekend warriors who are aiming to become competitive in their communities. As someone who has coached in both the group fitness and individual athletics settings, I bring a wide variety of perspectives and experiences that tailors training plans and strategies to each person in a unique way. I have coached all ages and across a spectrum of abilities, and as I currently pursue of a physical therapy degree (DPT), my education has provided me a lens that is focused on injury prevention and proper body/running mechanics.

About Me

Currently, I am a second year Student Physical Therapist at Emory University who has spent most of his life wither participating in athletics or helping others to do the same. Growing up, I have competed competitively in club and recreational soccer settings every year from age 4 to 18. In my undergraduate and graduate schooling, I have competed across an array of sports for intramural teams that I continue to participate in, including soccer, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, basketball, and flag football. I also currently hold the title of Intramural Chair in my cohort for graduate school, where I am in charge of organizing athletics participation. I have worked in a variety of settings across the country that has opened my perspective into how backgrounds and cultures influence our lives. I love to cook, eat out, watch tv, play with my cats, and, most of all, MOVE! My passion for movement started as a kid and has gotten me to where I am today and shaped much of who I am!

Big Influences

My biggest influences in the coaching world are my personal ones. My partner is the biggest reason that I returned to running, and without her, I would not understand the science of running to such a large degree. My dad was also one of my youth soccer coaches growing up, and his passion for coaching sports has showed me how rewarding the job can be helping others achieve their dreams.

Race History

I competed at the high school level for both soccer and cross country, earning 4 letters during my time in high school sports. During cross country, my PR in the 5K was 18:05, finishing my senior year as the 2nd fastest boy at my school and earning the Mr. Underrated award at my cross country banquet. Recreationally in college, I have maintained my running regime and expanded my events, having run four half marathons, two 10-mile, the 10K Peachtree Road Race, and numerous 5Ks.

Personal Records

  • 1 mile: 5:15 (1/25/20)

  • 10 mile: 1:17:25 (10/19/25)
