SPECIALTIES

Moms trying to Boston qualify tends to be my niche, but I am 100% comfortable coaching all levels and goals.

PHILOSOPHY

Build! I will take wherever you are and we build from there. I like to be smart and conservative, to avoid risk of injury and to adequately prepare. The ceiling for the current training block will become the floor for the next training block.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been coaching runners from my base in Utah since 2016. I work primarily with adults (only 1 high school cross country male teenager).

ABOUT ME

Mother of 4. Live in Utah, and LOVE the outdoors – hiking, camping, trail running, boating…you name it. Triathlete & runner. Have done seven half Ironman distance triathlons (70.3) and one full Ironman distance triathlon (140.6).

BIG INFLUENCES

Arthur Lydiard – speed through strength

RACING HISTORY

When I ran my first marathon, I didn’t know anything about the Boston marathon. I was going to be a one-and-done marathoner, and just didn’t want to have to walk. Ended up qualifying for Boston at the St. George, Utah marathon with a 3:31, so I figured I should probably run that race and do another marathon. I guess I was hooked. Ended up falling in love with running.

Phoenix marathon 2019 – took a break from triathlon training to see what I could do as a runner. This was the first time I had actually “trained ” for a marathon, doing easy runs and specific workouts. Went into the race with an actual race plan, and found out there’s a lot of strategy to running a successful marathon. Ran a 3:13 that day, and my coach (Sarah Crouch) planted the seed that I could run a sub-3 marathon.

Oct 2019 – broke my navicular bone and tore my Achilles at mile 8 of the St. George, Utah marathon, yet I finished and ended up with a 3:06. After three surgical procedures and months in a boot, cast, and crutches. It took me almost a full year to recover. When I returned to running, I couldn’t do much speed, so instead I set a goal to run 100-miles in one week. Sept 2020 I achieved that goal, and in the process built up my fitness again to be able to run, and started doing speed workouts in October.

May 2021 – First race post surgery and ran a 1:21:01 half marathon. Surprised and exhilarated!

I am just working towards my second marathon right now, my first one I didn’t have a coach but already I can feel I’m better prepared for my second thanks to Tamarynn! I appreciate how accessible she is and how quick she is to respond. She is meticulous in her training plans and knows just how to push you from week to week without over doing it, and that’s probably my biggest problem is I constantly am wanting to overdo it. So having someone there to pull me back and remind me easy pace is important is so helpful for me. I also appreciate the fact that I’ve gotten sick twice (thanks to a new school year) and she has adjusted my training plan on a day to day basis while I’ve been sick. I highly recommend her!

I have been working with Tamrynn since Oct. of 2019 and she has been nothing but amazing. From the very get-go, Tamrynn has been able to masterfully balance being a motivator, a strategist, a coach, and a friend in helping me accomplish goals that I was never sure I’d be able to. The best example of this is the work we did together in preparing for my first full Ironman. I was coming off of a surgery and was a relative newbie to boot, but she set my mind at ease. She helped me create both short-term and long-term plans, and she was always available throughout the long process to answer questions, track my progress, and make modifications.

I was so disappointed when the Ironman I’d been planning on participating in got canceled, but Tamrynn, as any excellent coach would do, came to the rescue with the right kind of emotional support as well. She continued to encourage me as she yet again reworked things, enduring several more cancellations, illness, and more injury. Despite all the setbacks, Tamrynn had me confident and ready to go when I finally was able to compete. I was able to accomplish my long time goal of becoming an Ironman, and credit her as being a major factor in that.

I’m excited to see what she can help me accomplish in my next marathon, and know she will be able to provide the same excellent guidance for others. I categorically recommend her to anyone.

I had a background in Triathlon and love for the sport but never had any consistency or structure to get in the right shape with a healthy plan.

I feel so lucky and privileged to have worked with Tamarynn for 18 months. She was
patient with me and really helped me understand the training and nutrition of
endurance sports. Tamarynn is tough, fair and will never sugar coat anything to you and that is something any athlete needs to improve.

You give her your goals and she will train you physically and mentally to hit them!
While working with Tamarynn I completed Ironman Florida in 11:04 I wanted a sub 5 hour 70.3. She trained m for it and I got it finishing at 4:53. I most recently trained for a sub 3 marathon and on a hard course finished at 3:01!
I also competed in some other smaller races completed all of them pain/ Injury free which I give huge credit to Tamarynn for training me in a way that kept my body injury free!

Her knowledge, experience, and passion for the sport of triathlon puts her head and shoulders above nearly all other coaches. I have nothing but good things to say about coach Tamarynn Bennett.

I have worked with Tam for over 2 years now and she has helped me improve my marathon time by over 30 mins and has helped me BQ twice, all while managing to help me figure out the rigors of training while also maintaining all other aspects of a busy life. She saw me through pregnancy and has helped me slowly build my fitness back. She does nothing but build you up and help you see and reach your potential! She is truly the best, kind-hearted person! I cannot recommend her enough!

I have been working with Tamarynn for about 4 years now and she has been amazing for my running! I’ve for sure had some ups and downs and injuries and successes and she’s helped me through it all. I have some big goals coming up and I know she will help me get there. I highly recommend Tamarynn and her expertise!

Solid coach. Tamarynn got me through my first marathon and first Ironman. I exceeded my goals on both! She also made sure I did not over do things/kept me in check. ???? Quick/reliable communication and flexible with schedule and/or goal changes. Great value especially for triathlon coaching.
Side note: No strength training included in case you are wondering, (maybe later it will be added, don’t want to assume anything. I just know that is something I want to know when looking for a coach).
It is all about finding the right coach – athlete relationship. Maybe Tamarynn will be that one for you! =)

I am a hard athlete to coach. I have way too much going on in my normal life, and Tam leads with grace and love. She hears my goals and makes training plans for it. Tam you are the best.
