SPECIALTIES

With a background in Emergency Services, I understand the importance of being able to shape a training plan around busy and complicated schedules. I develop training plans to meet your needs and your schedule. With extensive knowledge of Nutrition, I can help athletes dial in their nutrition for Race Day.

Several years ago, I lost over 100lbs and got into running. I understand what just starting out feels like in this sport and the challenges that come with losing a significant amount of weight. Let me help you reach our goals!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in developing training plans that encompass a “Full Picture” approach. This approach develops training that suits you and your goals. It will take into account your training history, goals, training preferences, schedule restraints and your “Why”. With this approach we will be able to develop a periodized training plan that will help you achieve your goals while enjoying the process and staying true to your “Why”. All of this while working with your schedule to make it all happen.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I established my coaching practice last year after accumulating plenty of experience writing plans as favors for friends and family. After establishing my practice, I have coached several athletes in a variety of distances who have seen both distance and time PR’s.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Apex, NC and currently live in Raleigh, NC. Growing up I was not the athletic type. I played some sports here and there but never really amounted to much at any of them. I joined the Fire Department as soon as I graduated high school which has proved to be an excellent career which has led to a lot of significant change in my life including massive weight loss. My family was chronically obese and soon I became obese as well. At the age of 19 I was tipping the scales at 300lbs and knew something had to change. I managed to get hired as a fireman and when I did, I was stationed with an officer who changed my life. He taught me how nutrition worked and how to eat properly to not only lose weight but also to fuel myself for working out. After about a year I was 100lbs down and ended up settling out having lost roughly 110lbs.

During this journey I found the running world and signed up for my first race, a half-marathon. After training myself for several months for that race I lined up at the start line. The since of accomplishment that I felt at the end of that race was unparalleled by any other physical experience I have had. That experience got me hooked on running and that sparked a snowball. I then went on to run several marathons and proceeded to discover the trail world where I currently still race the Ultramarathon Distances.

BIG INFLUENCES

My current focus is trail running. The community that I have found through trail running is something that is a rarity in today’s society and is something that I cherish dearly. My coach Jason Friedman has been a huge influence in not only my running career but also in coaching. He has provided me a significant amount of mentorship and knowledge that would have taken me decades to acquire.

RACING HISTORY

I have run in a variety of races from 5k road all the way to 100-mile trail and anything in between. Most recently I have run in the Asheville Marathon, Hell Hole 100K and Yeti 100-mile race. My most memorable race was the City of Oaks Half Marathon which is the race that started it all. My favorite race experience was my DNF at the Leadville 100, this race has amazing energy and community but also taught me what it is like to swallow my pride and continue the process to build back stronger.
