Running Coach Description

About Me & Coaching

Running has always been about more than miles — it’s about confidence, community, and showing up for yourself. I coach runners of all levels, blending smart training, strength, mobility, and encouragement to help them stay healthy, build sustainable progress, and enjoy the journey. Group workouts, track sessions, and personalized programs create a supportive environment where every runner feels capable and motivated.

Racing & Experience

I started racing in 2020 with my first 5K and quickly moved to half marathons, road 50Ks, and trail ultras like the Prickly Pear 50K and Rocky Horror Trail Race (which I now help direct). Strength-based events like Spartan Races and Hyrox keep training fun, and dream goals like the Leadville 100 and upcoming FKT attempts push me to new challenges. Along the way, track work, speed sessions, and exploring new terrain continue to fuel my love for running.

Specialties & Influences

I help runners gain confidence, tackle distances from 5K to ultras, improve speed and form, prevent injuries, and prepare for race day. Inspiration comes from every runner I meet, the trails and roads I explore, and the joy of sharing the journey — proving that running is as much about the experience as it is the finish line.

Philosophy

I meet runners where they are, explain the why, build strength beyond the miles, and keep people motivated, healthy, and confident all the way to the finish line.

Coaching Experience

My coaching style is built on encouragement, smart training, and real-life balance. Runners are supported at every stage, from first runs to confident race days, with programs that blend running, strength, and mobility to promote long-term health. Group training is led with energy and intention, creating a community where runners feel motivated, capable, and supported through tough workouts, breakthroughs, and finish-line moments.

With years of race experience across road, trail, and endurance events, I bring firsthand knowledge of what it takes to train smart, stay consistent, and show up confident on race day. I’ve completed multiple race distances and understand the physical and mental demands runners face—from first finishes to chasing new goals. My coaching approach blends structured run training, strength work, mobility, and recovery to help runners stay healthy and progress sustainably. Having trained through tough runs, long miles, and real-life obstacles, I coach with empathy, adaptability, and a strong belief that every runner’s journey matters.

About Me

Running has taken me everywhere — from surviving my first 50K at the Hill Country Trivium to tackling epic trails at Leadville 100 and Sedona 125. I love exploring new places, meeting challenges head-on, and sometimes getting a little lost along the way. Track work and speed sessions are a favorite, proving that sneaky osteoporosis isn’t strong enough to steal my love of running.

Strength training is a big part of my year too, keeping Spartan Races and Hyrox events in the mix. Living in San Antonio gives me the best of all worlds — roads, trails, and some nice hills to mix up every run. Whether it’s 5Ks, marathons, or mud-filled obstacle courses, I’m in it for the miles, the laughs, and the thrill of finishing strong.

Big Influences

I draw inspiration from every runner I meet — from first-time 5K finishers to ultramarathon veterans. The trails and roads themselves teach me lessons about persistence, patience, and enjoying the journey.

Race History

I started racing in March 2020 with my first 5K — right as COVID was closing the world down — and quickly discovered the world of virtual races to keep moving toward my first half marathon on July 18, 2020. By November, I was hooked on ultra distances, completing my first hot and challenging 50K on the road. January 2021 brought me to the trails with my first 10K, and since then races like the Prickly Pear 50K and the Rocky Horror Trail Race (which I now help direct) have become staples I love returning to in San Antonio.

From chasing belt buckles in 100Ks and 100-milers to now pursuing dream goal races like the Leadville 100 and upcoming FKT attempts in 2026, my running journey has evolved from chasing finishes to chasing pure joy and testing the limits of what I can achieve.

I can’t say enough about my incredible running coach, Vicki Allen! When I started with her in January, I could barely run 2 miles without stopping, gasping for air, and feeling completely drained. Thanks to Vicki’s guidance, encouragement, and expertise, I just crossed the finish line of my first 15k (something I never dreamed I could do!).
Vicki’s personalized approach was a game-changer. She took the time to understand my goals, tailored workouts to my level, and gradually built my strength and confidence. She was always there for me, whether answering late-night questions, cheering me on during tough runs, or celebrating every milestone, no matter how small. Her positivity and unwavering support kept me motivated even on days when I doubted myself.
Vicki Allen isn’t just a coach, she’s a mentor, cheerleader, and true inspiration. If you’re looking to transform your running journey, I can’t recommend Vicki enough!
