SPECIALTIES

I specialize in the longer road/trail races from 50K to 100 Miles+. I have been known for doing well on technical downhills and running uphill. I have a certification from UESCA for ultrarunning coaching and have learned specific methods of training, nutrition, and recovery for ultra distances.

PHILOSOPHY

I coach for the athlete. I want my athletes to have an incredible running experience and achieve their goals. I create individualized, custom short-term and long-term plans for my athletes that allow for the ebb and flow of personal life stressors to work with a training plan. I combine the unbreakable mindset of David Goggins with the scientific and progressive approach to training methodologies like Jason Koop, Kilian Jornet, and David Roche. Being more than a coach, I am a practitioner in the sport of ultra, learning from my past mistakes and putting my knowledge of running to the test every day. Not every day is a home run, but Jocko Willink said it best, “Discipline equals freedom.” I know that if I have the discipline to show up every day and get the work done, I will eventually reach my goals and so will my athletes.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

Although I am quite new to the run coaching experience, I was a high school soccer coach from 2022-2024 where I specialized in the strength and conditioning of our boy’s team. I have offered coach-like advise to friends and family throughout the past six years I’ve been running, but have recently completed a course for Ultrarunning coaching from UESCA. I have spent a considerable amount of time researching and reading the science of running, which I am excited to share with my athletes.

ABOUT ME

I currently live in Morgantown, WV, but go to and from my hometown Cumberland, MD a lot. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two dogs that we enjoy taking on hikes on the local trails. Most of my free time involves training for ultramarathons, and with any time left, I enjoy hanging out with family, playing with my dogs, cooking delicious meals, and reading. I have a passion for maps and geography, an uncanny ability to memorize movies and TV shows and can clap with one hand.

BIG INFLUENCES

David Goggins, Courtney Dauwalter, Zach Miller, Kilian Jornet, Jim Walmsley, Jason Koop, David Roche, and Harvey Lewis.

All of these athletes have had an impact on me over the past six years and have changed my life for the better. They all display various capabilities that I can only hope to attain some day in my own way. The books, podcasts, reels, and Youtube videos from these athletes have provided me with some insight into the minds of these incredible people.

RACING HISTORY

Over the past six years, I have raced in over 20 ultras. I’ve experienced the highs and lows that come with being on your feet and awake for 30+ hours. I’ve felt the searing burn in my muscles from sprinting to finish a marathon. I’ve rolled my ankles, busted knees and shins, and fallen more times than I can count over technical terrain after a night of pouring rain. I have been on podiums and have DNF’d. Through all of this, I have learned that running has changed my life. It is a daily activity where I can discover my physical and mental limits, clear my head, and explore parts of the world I have yet to see.

I got back into running about a year ago and it took almost the entire time to build myself up where I could run injury/pain free 4-5 days a week. My dream has always been to run a 100 mile ultra. I reached out to Yadi and he was more excited than I was to get started training. He created a custom training program to slowly build my mileage up that worked with my schedule of life which consists of two kids under two. He was patient with me through multiple failed runs and kept tweaking my training program to keep me moving forward. He’s coached me through every step of creating a nutrition and fueling plan to keep my performance in top shape. He also has helped me find races that align with my strengths to use as mile stones that are consistent with my goal. I would recommend Yadi to anyone interested in running any distance, not only for all of his knowledge but his continuing experience and success in all types of races. He has not only been a great coach but became a friend in this adventure and I’m pumped to keep working with him.
